Damp vermiculite in closed plastic tub in warm closet, afternoon of 5th Feb.
Day 1, nada. Day 2, nada. Day 3, 2+ cm tap root, too long to slot into rockwool so ended up digging a large hole and clamping small cube straight into larger one, and then straight into DWC basket.
Rockwool had been soaked for weeks in 2ml/litre Ionic Hydro Grow solution.
Growing as expected. Stem has risen through the pebbles. No sign yet of taproot emerging below the rockwool cube and hydro basket.
Spraying leaves regularly with weak Canna Rhizotonic solution.
Most of week spent with 24hr of light, up from 18hr, since outside temperature dropped to -10C. The light is the only heat source in the growroom.
Because Haze plants in same room need to be photo-switched to flowering, young CBD plant has to move to same 12/12 light schedule, now with a Sodium 600W bulb.
Growing well, but still no sign of roots making it through the rockwool and out of the basket into the nutirent solution.
She's developing quickly and well, helped by the 12/12 schedule of 600W sodium light, and the increasing ambient temperature as we head into spring.
Leaves looking healthy, though no sign yet of the roots protruding beneath the large rockwool cube.
She's coming along, slow but steady. Roots now emerging from sides (not bottom, weirdly) of rockwool cube. Solution below is at EC=700 uS/cm and PH=5.8.
She's had a good week. Roots coming into their own and plenty of lush growth.
Topped her this week - bit higher than I usually would - something like the 8th leaf.
She's short but healthy and she's starting to flower, much earlier than I expected, presumably due to the 12-12 lighting (forced upon her by her Haze sister, who is coming to the end of the flowering, at last).
Nutrients are still below 1 mS/cm. Started to add Ionic Hydro Bloom now that I see the flowers starting to form. 10ml of Liquid Oxygen going in every few days.
Easily the healthiest plant I've ever grown. She seems bulletproof. Always lush dark green growth, even when the PH goes out of range.
She's shorter than most I've grown, by my first indica so maybe this is normal.
Buds growing rapidly now.
She continues to be the easiest grow I've had to date.
PH spends the week in the 5.8-6.3 range, where I bring it down once or twice per week, aiming for about 5.5-5.9, then it sails slowly northwards again.
Buds are an impressive size already. Smell has increased markedly.
Foliage continues to be dense, and a lush dark green, with a few small spots on the lower leaves.
I suspect she would have benefitted more than most plants from some training. Took a few leaves this week, to expose lower buds.
Another strong week, though she remains very short at 50cm. Nutrient solution up to 2.0 mS/cm now. She drinks about 0.5 litres per day, with 10ml of Liquid Oxygen. About 15ml of nutrients each week. Dark green up top, but yellowing in the lower foliage now.
The foliage has gone almost entirely yellow now. Buds are ripening nicely. Not much further growth, but the pistils are turning brown and bending in upon themselves.
Another week or so and I will probably call it a day, and go for the harvest.
First impressions, after making a batch of cannabutter and then some cookies:
- very high THC content, since 1% of crop went into butter, 1/4 of butter went into 12 cookies, and 1/4 of a cookie was plenty :-)
- high gives an all-body tingle, a small hint of couch lock, and also some interesting cerebral effects, e.g. vibrant colours and shapes, when my eyes were closed.
