This time I’m growing a Blackberry auto & a Crystal Meth auto. Both from Fastbuds. Both should develop deep purple buds. The Crystal Meth is a strong sativa and the BlackBerry is a heavy indica. Hopefully it will bring a nice colour to the tent this time, and good options when it comes to choosing a smoke. A Purple Pair.
UPDATE: Both seeds popped after 4 days.
Both are still at the seedling stage. Getting their first true leaves. The Crystal is smaller than the BlackBerry. But the BlackBerry has pale green leaves so far.
Both have put on a good growth in their second week, as far as leaf nodes goes. But the Meth is short and dark green while the BlackBerry is tall, lanky and has had very pale green leaves since it sprouted. Not a deficiency. Probably just a feature of the strain. I’ll look it up. I’ll start feeding them this week.
The BlackBerry, which grew pale and lanky right from the first green shoot, looks like a bit of a misfit. What have I done? It has grown straight up, very little side shoots or greenery developing. It is getting yellow spots on the leaves, which reminds me of the first over watering mistake I made (Snow White). I’m being careful when watering, but it isn’t drinking much. If it doesn’t recover soon I’ll just remove it.
The Crystal Meth is doing really well in comparison. Green healthy looking. Exactly the right shape. I’ve started LST.
Both plants went into flowering this week as well, which is quite early. They are both on a mixture of veg and flowering nutes.
I’m feeding the crystal the same mix I’m giving the older grow (King & Kong). She is looking good. Trying to stretch high. I’m training her with LST. Interested to see what the early flowering time will mean for the plant.
The Blackberry looks like it has just frozen in time. It might be a bit longer. I took it out of the 5 gal and put it in a 1 gal pot. There were very little roots to dig around. I’m switching to using 1 gal pots exclusively. So I’ll keep this mutant. Even if nothing much comes off it.
The Crystal got a bit of nutrient burn on her leaves this week. I was being too impatient and feeding the same nutes as the older plants. Having various stages of Perpetual growth means various nutrient mixes. I’ll need to be more patient and mix them all separately. But she has spread nicely from scrogging.
The BlackBerry still hasn’t done much at all. Unless some stretching or serious bud growth starts to happen in the next few weeks, I’m thinking of chucking it.
Both have signs of nutrient deficiency on the leaves. Yellow spots and brown burns...
Not much stretching going on. Both plants have bud getting fatter now. They were both really quick to flower, showing signs after 2 1/2 weeks. New growth on the Crystal looks healthy. The Crystal is well spread in the scrog net. The BlackBerry is still a mutant. It really does just look like a small vine of purple berries.
The Crystal is well spread and low in the net. Lots of space between nodes. Really straight smooth stems. The buds are slowly growing bigger. It has 2-3 more weeks to finish off.
The BlackBerry really was stunted early on. I am growing a second one (Purple Pair II) that looks much healthier. But I really had to feed it early to get it there though. It was going pale like this one did. So the only thing I can see happening is her buds are growing slightly bigger. Might end up with 1/4 oz off it at most. Beautiful purple colour though. Reminds me of lavender heads.
I chopped the Crystal Meth down. Officially it was at 8 weeks but started flowering early at about 2 weeks. The trichomes were cloudy. I needed it. I just lost a whole grow (Lemon Grass) so I’m gonna be low on supply for a month.
The trichomes on the Blackberry still look clear. It isn’t growing anymore though. I’ll cut this one down next week I think.
This was a strange grow. Both were a bit mutant. Both were light on volume. I’m doing exactly the same grow again (Purple Pair II) so I’ll see if the outcome is the same.
I took the Blackberry down this week. It wasn’t bushy or tall. It started as a small vine-like single stem and it ended that way.
Another learning moment on this one. I’m growing the same again (Purple Pair II). Those ones look much closer to what is expected from these stains. The Crystal Meth is also going purple. The Blackberry has healthy looking green leaves. But the Blackberry is still a vine.
