Renting sucks.
PH metre was out, now calibrated correctly but the first feed was probably around 6.6-8. now feeding at 5.8 to being pH down. Runoff is 5.8 after 2 feeds in 36hrs. lights have been irregular and she's now living outside in less than full sun conditions. Hoping to move in the next few weeks, so I'll chalk this one up as a learning experience.
I left the first feed too late/ potentially locked out nutes and didn't get the light past 60%.
She's a stunted mutant now but let's see if grow No1 can get to harvest.
Snapped a lateral branch on the 3rd node trying to train it. Lesson learnt.
Removed a water leaf at 2nd node to open up the leading side.
Was definitely over.watering early on and cut back accordingly. She's doing well before the move.
Moved house and light schedule has been erratic. Didn't water for two days and now I think I'm seeing calcium deficiency. Upped calmag in mix and resumed foliar feeding twice a day. Main stalk is looking incredibly strong and now seeing 8 solid branches reaching up. Tucking and more LST before some light defoliation next week. She's compact and bushy and light is not getting lower down.
No sign of flower yet. Added small dehumidifier to keep RH below 70%.
I've got tacoing from the lights, leaves curling downwards from a possibly hot mix, now feeding far less, and little issues like calmag deficiency spots and struggling to find a suitable watering schedule. Clipping the occasional shade leaf and tucking others. It's a full canopy.
She grows despite my stupidity.
The stretch has begun. Did a light defoliation early in the week and cleaned off the lower branches entirely. Calmag foliar spray over a few days has helped but I could be still over watering. Light now at 80% power.
Steady development and I'm hoping I got the timing right for a PK feed this week. Trimming shade leaves to let light in and tucking smaller ones like crazy. The aroma is getting stronger.
She never looks happy but just keeps growing. No signs of toxicity after feeding PK and I'll drop the A&B right back from here on. Going to have to really trim hard this weekend, lots of larf and no light down low. Starting to consider airflow as the swelling goes on.
Seriously considering getting Mammoth P to help finish her.
Slow going waiting for her to finish. Possibly kept the A&B too long and she's had too much nitrogen to enjoy? Absolutely filling the 70cmX70cm tent and grow No2 has no space. Went through the lower branches and cleared a lot of smaller leaves and larf. Tried the light at 100% and lightly bleached the cola leaves. She drinks a lot more, more often now..
I'm getting impatient now. Gave her a light P burn with a extra feed of PK at the end of last week and have dropped Boost entirely. Fade came on faster than expected but I think that's the Boost making her hungry, leaving no doubt in my mind it's a PGR. Dammit.
Two more weeks??
Got a USB microscope and seeing some amber but couldn't capture it. Lots of clear trichs on the lower sections so maybe this is the last week, but watching the development closely. Nighttime temps have dropped in the last two weeks and she's started showing some purple. The fade is coming along and now seeing real bud swell and frost coming on. In going EC is .08 and runoff is about 1.2 so the mix is still carrying nutes and while I'm hugely sceptical about molasses I've added cane sugar to the water because I can. This grow has been a huge learning experience and I'm enjoying being at this point of my first real, full lifecycle grow.
Are we there yet? Super milky trichomes all over today. Two days ago there will still lots of clear. Been flushing with ph'ed water and the occasional rapadura sugar feed. The tips of the leaves curl upwards after the sugar, it certainly makes the pot happy. had a few days of unexpected heat and that's thrown a little foxtailing but I'm happy with the look of colas and ready to put her in darkness.
Milky trichs all over. Top sugar leaves practically dead. Stopped drinking water two days ago. Banished to darkness.
A learning experience but I'm glad that grow is over. It was a real test of my patience in the end.
