Skinny Pot/Weed?

This is more like week 2. Not the healthiest seedling. Back on track - new growth looks proper. I am glad it wasn't a virus, and being a photoperiod, I have time on my side.

Recovery of the plant looks good. Still battling low humidity so i'm going to try a foliar spray of 5ml Diamond Nectar and 2ml Sea Magic in a half liter spray bottle. I made up a second spray bottle with 1/8 tsp molasses. The two bottles are a very weak solution; only enough additive to lower the pH of the spring water to 6. Some light leaf tucking and a few lower side branches may start competing with the main bud. I turned on 4 of the lower LEDS so the wattage is up to 201 now.

Weather outside is going above freezing, so humidity should go up and hopefully so will the plant. If I get the growth I think I will this week, I will make a decision on topping. March 3rd plant is pretty branchy. Not sure i'm going to top it. This is my first Photoperiod and first time growing Durban Poison. I am leaning towards not topping so I can see how it grows. Durban Poison seems to be growing wide and is branching.

She has lots of leaves. I am using all my lights now, 277 watts. I will probably switch to flower around 13 to 15". We are at 13 inches. i'm now thinking 15-16 inch height might be better. The side lighting I have and the stocky growth will work with a taller plant. Defoliating 2 days before switching to flower should reveal enough branching for several colas. A light defoliation yesterday revealed lots of branching. I removed approximately 25 middle and lower leaves. The plant never skipped a beat. Later today or tomorrow I will switch to flower. The plant looks very heathy 15" tall and 22" wide. I may have an unruly monster on my hands in 10 weeks.

Start of flower. I only defoliated lightly as that's the recommendation for first timers. I had a faulty light timer. Switching to 12/12 light schedule I also had to switch the actual time the light is off. Lots of changes let's watch and see how the plant reacts. The first week of flowering and my Durban Poison is 20" tall by 31" wide. I was thinking it was going to grow taller than wider, it is healthy and still growing. We will see what's happens in the next two weeks. This plant was not topped and it has lots of side branches. This afternoon I will change nutrient solution to 50/50 maxigrow to maxibloom.

I will be adding Maxibloom with Maxigrow for the second week of flowering. Durban Poison is growing like a weed. I hope I can hold off defoliating until the end of week 3 in flower. OK I added the maxi bloom and maxi grow half strength each , along with all the other goodies on the list. I'm keeping the tds around 700 because it's been working. One week of flowering done , nine to go. I plan to follow Growweedeasy Nebula's 3 step defoliation. Growing very wide , it could be the side lighting. My side lights are blurple and my top light is 3500k white. Looking at the plant today I can finally notice a vertical stretch going on. Durban poison is growing into it's leaves. This is a strong healthy plant. Mixing MaxIgrow and Maxibloom equates to 7.5-10-14 which seems to make sense during this 3 week flowering stretch period. I will report plant size numbers tomorrow the end of week 2.

Start of week three. This grow has been a breeze so far, just add nutrient solution and raise the lights. A low odour grow so far. Durban poison is 27 " tall and 39 " wide, touching the side walls of my tent now. In hindsight I should have switched to flower when the plant was smaller and defoliated more in growth stage. At the time of switching to flower I thought I would shoot for the same height as my Fugue State to compare harvests ( 38" ). Durban poison is growing wide in comparison to Fugue State, although this is not a controlled experiment. Let's see what this week brings. March 31 and Durban Posion is 30.5 " tall and 39 " wide. Lots of bud sites forming. Defoliating this weekend at the 21 day flower point, will be fun. Defoliated today April 3rd. Pictures don't show it but I removed 290ish leaves. The bud sites are open to light and air now. I like how the plant looks. I added an oscillating fan today as well.

Start of week 4 in flower, stretch should slow. Durban poison is 33" tall and 38" wide. I removed a lot of fan leaves opening up the plant to light and air. The addition of another fan has the buds receiving a nice breeze. The heavy defoliation has not bothered the plant as it drank nutrient solution last night. I am happy with the looks of the new airier plant. With a charcoal filter running there is no odour. April 6 th tonight I'm switching to maxibloom only, no more maxigrow blend. April 10th last day of week 8. Buds are growing. I can see more frost on the sugar leaves. Defoliation was needed, next time i grow Durban i will defoliate more leaves at the pre-flower switch. I hope to get in the groove and get a nice flowering mix going and carry this plant through until harvest. The chain you see in some photos is a measurement to the top light.

Start of week 5 in flower. Thursday and I can see the buds getting bigger. Every morning I empty the reservoir of about 1 liter of solution and add 6 liters of fresh pH adjusted nutrients. I am hoping the video I take tomorrow on Sunday day 1 of week 6 will show changes. So far I am pleased. Tomorrow the beginning of week 6 I will be dropping the Diamond nectar and reducing the armour SI and increasing the Koolbloom liquid.

April 18 , day1 week 6. I changed the nutrient solution raising liquid koolbloom keeping the ppm around 730. I am basically following General Hydroponics online feed chart for Flora series subing in Maxi series. Some buds have out grown my lighting system, maybe I will keep them separate at harvest. Harvest 5 weeks or less! Thursday April 22 the odd pistil is turning brown. I am happy with the grow so far everthing is progressing as it should. Video tomorrow to start week 7.

Day 1 of week 7 in flower. Yesterday I opened the tent and for the first time thought to myself " Wow that's a big plant!". My grow tent is 1 meter by 1 meter and the plant is touching all sides. I am now wishing I had more wattage of lights. Day time Temps are 72 and humidity is around 35. My current LED wattage is 277 from the wall, let's see what it can produce. Time until harvest is 4 ish weeks and dropping. Judging by the speed at which the pistils are changing colors I am doubtful it's going to take 3.5 weeks to ripen. I am in no hurry, quality is my biggest concern.

Day 1 of week 8 , about 3 weeks left until harvest. The buds have a higher percentage of amber pistils. The buds are getting a bit wider and their hairdo is a bit less spiked. Some minor issues with low humidity in the seedling stage. Once past the seedling stage this was a very easy grow. After my daily reservoir change I noticed after moving a few buds that yes i'm smelling licorice . It smells exactly like licorice sticks . I also get pine and some other spice, maybe cloves. My carbon filter still keeps the smell under control but opening the tent gives you a good slap. Buds look close to being ready . I will do a trichome check Sunday and a video. OK I took a few trichome pictures today at 8 complete weeks (Saturday ). This is my first photo period grow so I want to go close to the 10 week Cropking suggested flowering time.

Day 1 of week 9 in flower. I took some close up pictures of trichomes yesterday they are at the end of week 12. Judging the looks of the trichomes I can go longer before flush/ harvest. The buds are slowly adding weight. The plant smells great I am happy with the progress. I will be lowering my center light down to 15cm for the last 10 day push. Early in veg the plant has a Indica look to it and its leaves. Late in flower the leaves look more Sativa. Friday May 14th I will check trichomes tomorrow which is the end of week 9 in flower. End of week 9 trichomes are getting there. One more week will be 10 weeks in flower the estimated flowering time. Video for comparison tomorrow first day of week 10. Buds are defiantly gaining size as branches bend from their weight.

Start of week 10. I will plan for a harvest at the end of this week. I will watch the trichomes. I'm planning to flush for 3 days at a low ppm. A lower branch that broke under bud wait should be ready to sample Friday. Ok I sampled some half dry bud. The bud was from a thin lower branch which bent down and broke. The worst possible bud as it was far from the lights and not dry. I cut up the bud and put it in my Pax vape. Pre heating the vape a few times hoping to finish the drying process. The sample was surprisingly smooth with a nice head high and no mad munchies. The smell had a licorice/anise pine smell. This is a good energy strain that hits fast. Too early to comment on smell or taste without proper dry and cure. I will harvest plant in twoish days if all goes well with flush.

Durban Poison grew into a beast with DWC. It deserved more than the 277 watts of light. It struggled a bit as a seedling from low humidity. Doubled in height during flower. I should have defoliated more just before flower switch. I am very happy with this grow it was my first photoperiod. I learned alot about defoliation and would like to switch my 125 watt led for a 250. This is a classic strain and judging by the tester buds it has a great functional high. The ability to keep munchies under control makes it a keeper. We are enjoying the precured sample buds taste in a vape already so it's only going to get better. The buds are drying in paper lunch bags. Weighing the bags I can monitor how much moisture is being lost. Dry weight is around 526 grams jarred up @ 62RH. Very happy with this weight. Next photo period grow I will defoliate more, clean out the lowers and thin branches. This plant could yield very high with the proper lights or outside. I highly recommend growing Cropkings Durban Poison. Grow came out to 1.9 grams per watt. Verify your Humidity Meter by putting small amout ( teaspoon) of moist salt in a small jar with your meter. 8 hours later it should 75%. Mine was off. Trying Sous Vide decarboxylation today. Using my Insta pot ultra set @ 203 for 90-120 mins. I'll post a pic after. OK the reason I wanted to use this method for decarb was to limit THC conversion to CBN. I had two issues , the bag inflated as it heated up and I needed to weigh it down with a cup and bowl on top of a trivet. With the lid on it tryed to pressurize. More practice decarbing this way is needed to perfect it. Breaking apart the buds for decarbing showed the quality. Trichomes through and through, nice and solid even consistency with touch of purple on the inside. A thing of beauty.
