Seedling stage under a 72W CFL.
There is also a clone involved in this grow, but kinda goes under the radar for that one.
This is not week one after germination, but what can be considered week one after the seedling stage.
For this grow im using a DIY built 310W COB light. It contains of 4 Vero29 Gen7 3500K COBs running at 27W each. Powered by a Meanwell HLG-320-2100-B on a custom build aluminium frame and cooled by arctic CPU coolers.
Since critical is very branchy and compact i will refrain from topping and just use LST and cropping for training up to week 3 flowering.
Transplanted the seedlings into final pots and put them under the new lights. Since they will have to get used to the new environment not much happened in that stage. Started to give nutrients and setup the timelapse rig in this stage.
First round of LST using earthhooks.
My method contains LST every 3 to 4 days. I defoil every leaf and branch i dont need. This plant is very compact so i didnt have to cut that much.
Last week of veg. Just waiting for the area to fill up nicely and switching to flower. I didnt LST in that timeframe and will wait for the stretch to start until i train again.
1st week of flower:
Powered up the COB to 100% power and put the light 55cm above canopy level. Started giving BioBloom and TopMax for transition. Stretch is near! This plant is not the biggest stretcher. I just supercropped a few stems but left it alone mostly. No defoliation in this week! I want the plant to be as healthy as possible, so no HST for now.
Did another round of pruning and LST in this phase. Will defoliate alot more next week, but you wont see it in the pictures, since i leave so much on the top level. I end up with 10-15 tops per plant! heightdistribution is very even amongst all four plants.
Final training unit. You can already see that this plant has next to no internodial distance, so bud development will be very uniform! I assume the stretch is also over at a height of 35cm max. This is good news, since my growroom is only 160cm high and i need to keep a greater light distance. My COBs put out roughly 40k lumen on a 0.64m² (3' x 3') area. So 50-60cm is advised.
The buds really start to build up. This is strain is an awesome sidebrancher. Canopy builds up very even! I suggest that you dont top, just LST to a budcount thats nice for your pot. Have about 15 tops per plant in a 3gal smartpot.
Still a every uniform canopy without a ScrOG net. Im happy! The lights colortemp makes taking photos very easy. I never use filters.
Flushed this week once. It brought out a little fade. Flushing is not inherently necessary for me since im using organic nutes. But theyre still bottled and it doenst harm the plants.
Buds are still bulking up like hell. Lets crush that 10 oz. !
Were reaching the final weeks of this grow. Pistils are still white and pointy. That will change in a few days. Buds are still putting on that weight very nicely. You can now see why RoyalQueenSeeds calls this strain the cashcrop.
Finalizing the grow. Harvest is in one week. One plant needs to cook a bit longer and its not that bad for the others. Fading is normal,Smell and terpene profile is awesome, and the preharvested testbud blew me away. Im drooling :)
Smoke her when you want to chill. Its a very longlasting indica type of high which comes in waves. Will add some more details once i tested more than scissor hash or prebuds. The effect is very strong. Its an easy smoke, no coughing or desert mouth. Also very social and flavorful.
My intention to grow Royal Queen Seeds Critical was my growroom upgrade. New lights i built myself, the new smartpots and knowledge that went into that grow should condense into my biggest harvest to date. I harvested about 1164gr of wet but together with about 100gr of trim and leaves which will be used to produce bubble hash.
This plant is easy to grow, has a nice tasting terpeneprofile (if you love kushy, sweet terpenes) and is also a looker! The buds are just aesthetic and full of trichomes. Theyre dense and a please to look at. If you train her with LST up to 3rd week of flower you will be rewarded with a whole-bud-plant, big banana buds, and overall a very very high yield.
I also found budrot, but only at one budsite which was a result to my further growroom rebuild i did close to harvest (aeroponic here i come).
I cant stop saying it: If you want ALOT of very good weed out of a small space: Grow Critical by RoyalQueenSeeds.
Great looking Buds, pretty good yield . I am Growing this strain as well , I am extending it's Veg stage until I am able to transplant out doors in a month. Hope I have as good of results as yours. enjoy your Harvest!
Hi there
You got some awesome, but heavy-looking buds at the end!
Wondering if the branches will be able to support the weight of the buds without the LST method?
happy growing (:
ps forgot to ask what size your tent is?
@homegrow_pro, oh, so using LST is actually an awesome way to customize your plant to the shape of the tent, haven't thought of that before now (: mine's 60x60, thinking it would be a good idea to go LST? havent tried it before tho :/
Wow your Critical much bigger than mine at 2 weeks. Is this 2 weeks since germinate or 2 weeks since you put the seed out?
Seeing yours makes me excited!
Got them one to two weeks under a 72W CFL and transplanted them. I dont have that much pictures from seedling stage. Its my first real diary :) I dont think you can add a week, if you dont have pictures right? So i counted the whole CFL phase as week1.
