Soaked seeds in glass of distilled water on heat mat for 3 hours and seeds sunk. Transferred into paper towel where they germinated in about 24 hours. 7/7!
After 1 week this is where they are at. I think I had a little problem overwatering these guys at first. Have a better plan now. Going to transfer the healthiest seedlings into 5, 5 gallon fabric pots at the end of next week.
Started a little feeding this week. Starting low since I think my soil is in the hotter range. I could see by the end of the week there was a little bit of nute burn, nothing bad . I am lowering the ph of my water now to 6.5. Idk what's up with the little yellow one, i think it has some stem damage or rot where it meets the soil. Starting lst at the turn of this week.
Been feeding them every other watering, except after the first time they were fed. They were showing signs of nutrient toxicity, but now that they are getting bigger it's leveling out. LST is going well and these girls are starting to widen out. Gonna retie them down again this week before I flip them into flower on March 20th. One of the plants that had a slow start is back on track while the other is staying small, and her leaves will turn yellow from the tip in.
Girls are starting to take off. Could be due to the more practice I have adjusting ph and getting them on a consistent watering schedule. Been using a soil gauge that can check soil wetness and ph. Happy to see some of the stunted plants that had ph problems are getting back on track too. Put them all in one pot. Fuck it. Only 3 more days until I flip to a 12 hour light cycle.
my grow space is in a closet that didn't have a door so I basically made a makeshift door out of plywood. So I am gonna make sure it is completely light proof before the flip. I have the exhaust ducting running into another room. Do I have to Worry about light reflecting back into the grow room and messing with the dark period?
The space is starting to fill up wall to wall. Flipped to flower on day 38. I feel like I could water more often and with more run off. How much run off do y'all usually get each time you water? Also I think I gotta cut the nitrogen off completely cuz they're starting to get very dark green
Waited about 10-11 days after the flip to flower to change bulbs from mh to his, both 600 w. I heard this strategy is effect in keeping the plants from stretching to much. It looks like the hps heats up the room a lot less. trying to keep the canopy as even as possible, the ones farthest back are getting a little taller but they are hard to reach for now. I will be lowering all the pots to the ground probably after another week when they are tall enough. I started with all the plants elevated because my light couldn't drop that low in my current set-up.
Big stretch this past week. Almost double the size since flip 18 days ago. Trying to keep an even canopy and give enough space around each pot. The plants grew to be about 14 inches away from the light and I was gone for the weekend and I think the plants right under the light got a little burnt as the leaves are all lighter. Lights at 22 inches rn and I figured they could grow into that.
Troublesome week.. ran into some issues with mechanical dial timer and the lights didn't turn on for the first 9 hours of light schedule 2 days in a row. The first day I thought the timer just got bumped but then it malfunctioned the second day so I just bought a digital time n set that up. Hopefully this didn't shock them too much and they can bounce back well. The plants still got a light period each day but it was shortened to like 3 hours. I just wanted to keep it on its regular schedule n stop messing with the lights! Anxiety, when all your work could be for nothing. Fuck mechanical dial timers, just spend the extra couple bucks for something better.
Another week. Smells starting to get stronger . Didn't feed at all this week and just gave them all a flush because I think I was starting to get some salt build up and toxicities.
Buds are getting fatter. Some areas of plants and lower canopy starting to get a little yellow. With about just over 2 weeks left I'm not too worried about it. Got a jewelers loupe to check out those trichs. Gonna try and harvest when majority are cloudy with a few amber
Start of the week, I gave the girls their last feeding. By the end of the week, starting to see bottom set of leaves turning yellow. This is good, as I don't want any left over nutrients or harsh tasting buds. Some plants pistils are changing rapidly to amber colors while others are still that white color. Looks like trichs are beginning to get more cloudy too. Looking to harvest once I start to see a few amber trichs popping up. While some plants may be at different levels of finishing, I still plan to harvest them all at once. Gonna try and keep each plant together in the curing process to see if there's any difference in them. Almost there!! Just over a week to go id say with ~55 day flowering time
Flushed them all out this week for harvest. Chopped them down at night on 5/13. About 56 days into flower. Will post the harvest later this week once they all dry out. Wet trimmed 3/5 pots and I'm trying a dry trim with two of the other ones. Drying in a dark, ventilated room with a decreasing humidity from 52%.
Hello my Fellow gardener . I see you used peat pots then cloth pots . I see your lamp is very close your temp to high and humidity as low as you would want it in last weeks of bud . I don't think you over watered maybe the mix was to strong but your plants didn't stretch and stunted due to to much blue light . you need to move the light away during these starting phase and turn it way down you can tell due to the healthy amount of nodding your plants have this is due to blue light or to much . also the plants would like double the humidity at the start . the peat pots if not kept wet will inhibit your root growth until they break down some due to high heat and dry pots at the start your roots would not have broken out until you transplanted them to the cloth and the core is kept wet . as long as you don't leave the cloth pots in water you pretty much can not over water them . the more often you water the lower strength food you will want to use . and yes you will want to be careful about light reflecting down your ducts .
@Mongler1187,
Thanks for the info & advice, man. I had a pos humidifier when I started, now I have a good one to regulate that. I'm using an air cooled hood with a 600 w mh and their usually at 16-20 inches away. That should be fine right? Are you saying at the end of flower I should have the light at least 20+ inches?
I have a similar issue with overwatering. After being very hands off for the last week and letting the soil get bone dry, I’m seeing rapid growth.
What light and what kind of space are you using?
