I was looking for a cannabis strain having a massive CBD ratio due to its medical properties. I stumbled upon Nurse Lilly CBD strain. Genetics of Sativa 90%, Indica 10% which grows slower, is sensitive and requires a lot of care. Not the best combination for a novice grower I must say !!! But I had a go with it for fun, and with some luck, I could have some weed with CBD ratio bigger than 4 x then THC. In the beginning, I was surprised by how tiny seeds were. The germination process was quite long so I need to stay patient and positive. 1 stage - 72 h seeds were soaked in a glass of water (water room temp) till seeds opened (tiny bubble of air attached to seed) and you can see little plant 🌱 horn hatch. 2 stage - the seed has been transferred to a wet paper towel, covered with another sheet of soaked paper with an extra plate on the top to keep moisture and darkness for another 24 h. This finally wake up this lady 🙂 3 stage - the sprouting seed has been moved into a little 125 g plastic pot with half coco coir compost disk. I did not place the seed deep, just covered it slightly with soil. Watered after plenty enough to help seed sprout better and quicker.

W1 D5 - I needed to intervenient in the young life of this lady-girl. The seed husk did not come off and I was a bit afraid about her fragile life. I used tweezers to gently remove the stubborn husk. Everything looked good and healthy 🙌 after this surgery. W1 D6 - I added a pole (all-purpose garden wire) to support her weak and young 🌱 stalk.

W3 - She is still growing high. The first characteristic for cannabis type o leaf is emerging. Also, little tri-finger fan leaves start to appear. I made holes in the yogurt pot bottom to let the water go all the way down. I used a hummus container to be her temporary pot saucer. What an idea :-) I was slightly concerned about her growth and how much-soaked soil became with time. That is why always try to keep your plants in a pot with enough numbers of hols to help excess water go down easier, keeping plants root system away from soaked soil - for sure by growing cannabis you can learn a lot about plants, soil, sunlight, and watering.

W4 - I bought a new pot for my Girl to make her roots more space for growth. Drilled some holes near the top rim of the pot for future plant 🌱growth control if needed. The old yogurt pot was 125 ml big (oh dear), the new pot is 2,5 liters big, hopefully, enough to see her develop into a beautiful Lady. I put the plant quite deep into the soil so the young stalk is nearly all covered. I am thinking to give her a name. What name folks would you suggest for her? Write down your comments...

W5 - the plant 🌱needed a few days to let its roots penetrate the soil in the pot. My biggest concern 🤔 was her slow, too slow growth 🤯 I viewed 👀 a few growers' diaries, seeking something that I have perhaps done wrong. I needed a new & different approach. I understood I kept her on the dry side for too long so one day I poured 250 ml of 💦 water into the pot, which seemed to give a decent effect. I noticed that plant growth improved. Good tip - started to use water 🚿 spray, which immediately improves the plant's 🌱healthy green foliage !!! Also added 2 cracked boiled eggs 🥚 eggshells to correct the pH of the soil. That should give extra calcium for the plant to absorb with water especially when 40% soil in the pot is 🥥 coco coir based. Name shortlist: Bella & Esther

Hi Growers... I have Nurse Lilly CBD and after 8 weeks of the growing plant 🌱developed the first pair of 5 finger fan leaves. Is this normal...? Is it not too late, the plant looks healthy as a horse 🐴 Is it not too late for topping...?

W9 - the plant 🌱has been transplanted to the same size of 2,5 l pot with huge holes at the bottom of the pot 🎍 I recon this plant is going to be for a while with me 🤪 and I would like to avoid any overwatering issues on the way. New pot (last pot for her) is a good preparation for long, hot summer when watering will be critical!! At the bottom of the pot, I put a 5 cm layer deep of white pebbles to improve ventilation and help excess water come down. I start to defoliate 🍃 her a bit, just to make some more light for newly developing branches on the lower part of the stalk. I am still keeping a nice leafy 🌴 canopy. I decided not to topping her, I couldn't do this to her, after what we been through together. I hope she will respect my decision and will not grow too tall...

W14 - I have decided to topping ✂️ ESTHER ( @sir_isO, @guerilla, @DoctorGreenThumb ). She was getting above 55 cm tall, way too high. Controlling a plant's height is important to me as an indoor grower (farmer 👨‍🌾 😂). I kept 2 top tiers of fan leaves till she will overcome shock after being topped. Made an awesome CBD tea from the top. Drunk the whole cup and ate the plant. Made me very pleasantly high 😋

W16 - after a pretty hot week ESTHER shows some signs of existing on the dry side of her life. This made me concern about her well-being. Perhaps I slightly overlooked her recently in regards to watering. Nice weather ☀️ and beer gardens 🍻make me forget about her Also during a LST and my inattention, I damaged one of the branches 🙈 I taped it quickly to the main cola, thought that should help. After few days I removed the tape and check on it. By touching it I made it even worst. In the end, I remove the branch, cut off the loose end, and put it in the glass of water to prompt the plant to grow its roots. I don't have any idea what I am going to do with this... So after 4 months of quite smooth growing with a few bumps here and there, I had not the best week in the office 😕 I need a hug 😔

Dear Growers... I have a question in regards to what can cause drying and becoming leafs edges brown to Nurse Lilly CBD? Is that due to overheating, underwatering, being in the sun for too long? Or maybe there are other reasons for this to happen? Any tips community ??

I think its a Potassium deficiency, very much a deficiency to take care of sooner than later. as for your outdoor light cycle, Pacific time will see 13-12 hours of daylight each day in September 6-24, so enjoy the training while she is vegetative!

W17 - ESTHER recovered well from my mishandling her 🙈 recently. Her issue with leaves could be caused by over-fertilization. On top of that, we had a really warm week ☀️ I could nearly kill her by my miscalculation. This is an important lesson for me. One thing has not changed 😂 after over 4 months of having her there is no sign of flowers

I have to go away for 2 weeks. I don't have anyone who I would trust to babysit her for 2 weeks. Also leaving keys to the flat is not an option :-( She is a 70 cm tall lady, grow indoor. Growers what are the best solutions to keep the plant watered for 2 weeks to keep it alive.

Many greenhouses, grow stores and Amazon sell automatic plant watering systems. I have one that lets me select how many times a day it waters and how much it waters. It is powered by mains (AC) but also has battery backup in case the power goes out. The waterer came with tubing and fittings so you can water multiple plants. I water many sites around each plant depending on it's size so as much of the soil gets watered as possible. I start out by measuring how much water I give my plants at each watering. Then I put the hose of my watering system into a container and let it run so I can see how much water it puts out. Then I adjust the watering schedule so the machine provides the same amount of water that I do. I sit the plants in large plastic containers (storage totes) on top of bricks so runoff can safely drain away from the plants.

As B4rns and hempkid said, you can easy rig a self watering system. Your main problem would be your run off. So what b4rns suggested with the drain tables will stop your plants sitting in excess water.

I built a self watering system. 16 gallon tote, a 400gpm under water pump, a cheap timer. Mine feeds 2x day for 15 min. I suppose you could get a nice timer (I have one) that you can control the minutes down to 1 minute feeds. I can go away for about 4-5 days during veg cycle.

W18 - ESTHER will be left for 2 weeks without any attention 🤷‍♂️ I had a situation and urgently needed to go ✈️ abroad for 14 days. Bear in mind traveling during Covid times is so unpredictable. My return could be delayed due to constant changes in regulations and the situation in-country of arrival. Total nightmare 🤯 I had no one who I trust to sit her with. I was panicking a bit because in the middle of summer keeping her water on the right level is a key to survival, forget plant development. So I started researching watering systems, pumps, etc. I wanted to go for something simple, easy, and cheap. I chose - self-watering wick cord cotton rope for an outdoor potted plant and a 10-liter bucket of tap water. I know this is daft to leave your cannabis plant without a keeper with a watering system which I haven't tried/tested before. But that was my situation, I had no time to test it, had barely time to buy it. I said to myself, let it be and I was fine with an outcome.

W19 - ESTHER survived ✨, well she looks way better than I left her !!! She has most of the brunches directed towards the sunny side, but this can be fixed by rotating a pot. Sometimes nature does it best when is left alone !!! The 10-liter bucket was 1/3 empty. I even cling-filmed it to reduce evaporation. I was so afraid that this amount of water won't be enough for her. There is no sign of dry leaves caused by overfertilization, this problem seems to go 😄 Good tip: 1. If you going away for 1-3 weeks is good to try and test watering systems before you leave. 2. There is no need to buy expensive watering pumps, go for self-watering wick cord cotton rope for an outdoor potted plant. This really works !!!

W24 - don't get misled. I didn't post any images of ESTHER for the last 4 weeks!!! There wasn't much happening anyway, so you haven't missed out much....!!! So the images that you see on the week 20 vegetative period should be 24 weeks of her life. I stretched out her main branches, to let the middle ones can grow bigger and faster. As you can see from the picture taken from above the plant her branches formed a pretty rosette shape. The plant is 6,5 months old and there is no sign of any flowering If it is going like that I will use her like a Christmas tree 🎄 for sure... 😂😂😂

But finally, she started flowering, so I thought to give a shout-out about it to the grower's community. Flowering for Nurse Lilly CBD is really great news for me and you Guys. Esther is on long 38 weeks (nearly 9 months) of her vegetation life and finally, her brunches began to be covered with flowers. She might be my very original Christmas tree 🎄

Hi bro, I think she need a bigger pot, 5 or 6 liters pot, and ahe will start growin big😉👍 But dont do topping and transplanting at the same day she does not look so strong, but it looks healty, First transplant her and wait for a several days to get recovery and than do topping✌️ One table spoon of ash mix with watter, and wattering with that days before topping, she will be happy😉

@GrowOnTheLeft, yea, understand what you are talking abouth 😉👍 Ash is natural fertilizer, it is lots of NPK and other minerals in the ash and charcoal, also, it good for natural ph balance, coz it is ph neutral. 🙂👌 No cost, natural, and works good 😉👍 Specialy good during vegetation period. I use it once per week, specialy after topping, after transplanting, or any other bigger stress. It is also good to add some ash and charcoal in the soil mix, it will release minerals litle bit slowly than market fertilizers, so no risc of nutrient burns!😉💪🌱✌️

Hi @SeaGrow I don't want to go for a bigger pot for her just to keep her size down. I will keep her indoor, don't have any outside area or garden to put her there. This was the last transplanting, just found a better pot with better ventilation for her. I won't go for topping, I was thinking about LST - bending her stalk in a circle around the pot. I changed my mind even on this scenario 🤨 I will be very boring grower here, I will keep her just how she is with some defoliate and LST 🙂 @SeaGrow what ash mix with water is for?
