Set everything up on Monday 8th of March 2021. This is my 3rd outdoors grow, but first one tracking. Will try to do 2 outdoor grows this year, so starting early this year with three royal dwarfs of Royal Queen Seeds. Chose them because they should be perfect for cold climate.
I will grow them in 2 pots of 11l and 1 growbag of 15l. Bought 2x 50l canna tera professional plus+ and 10l of perlite. I will use terra grow and terra bloom.
My expectations:
•they won't get very tall, because of the stains. I'm hoping for 45-55cm in the 11l pots and about 60cm in the 15l bag.
•they should be ready in about 10 or 11 weeks, so about 24th of May.
•hoping for 25-35gr per plant
Growing in The Netherlands on my sunny balkony by the way.
Will try to do an update on every Monday.
Still a beginning grower, so all comments, tips and recommendations are very welcome. Cheers
On day 4 I planted all three in small pots, so I could hold them indoors in front of the window for a little while. On day 8 I got to meet Doc; full story below.
DWARF nr01. This one is the one on the right in the paper towel. On day 4 I planted it and it had a root of about 10mm, which makes it the biggest of them all. While making photos for todays update I got to meet the little fella. I'm going to name her Doc.
DWARF nr02. The middle one in the paper towel. It had a root of approx 5mm on day 4. Haven't met her yet.
DWARF nr03. This one is the left one in the towel. The shell was just cracking open when I planted it. Hoping to meet her soon.
Started this week on 15th of March, being day 8. Got to meet Doc (nr1) that day and met Happy (nr2) on day 10.
Unfortunately nr3 wont show up, I dug it up and saw that it's still in its shell. Placed the seed back in a paper towel.
Doc and Happy went quite fast on day 11 and got quite a bit of sun this week. They are now, on day 16, tuesday 23th of March, about 4cm each.
Will plant them in the bigger pots today.
Planted Doc and Happy in bigger pots on day 17.
Doc got the 16l bag, Happy is in the 11l pot.
They haven't grown much since actually. But it hasn't been great weather this week and it was quite windy. I guess they did get a bit stronger on the stem.
They are still approximately 4cm, but they got a lot of sun coming this week.
The 3rd seed still hasn't germated, will throw it in a cup of water today.
Allright guys, I'm sorry you haven't heard from me for quite a while.
Story time
As you might know I started with a lot of enthousiasm with this grow. I started early this year, so I could do 2 grows outdoors. The weather in week 4 was quite bad. It started to hail and even snowed for some bit. Even though I normally raise my plants like small Spartans and keep them outside no matter the weather this time I didn't like the weather at all. I thus decided to take them inside, just for a short evening. Well, I should not have done that..
Why? I hear you ask. Well, because my f#cking cat ate poor little Doc.. me and Happy lost her. I was furious with my cat and we haven't talked for quite a while. (At this point everything is OK between cat and me, I know, it was hard to forgive her, but we can't stay mad forever)
Raising Happy alone wasn't nearly as fun as raising her with Doc. So I stopped updating this diary. There you have it.
At this moment Happy is doing quite good actually. She didnt grew very tall, but that is because she's a dwarf. Despite the harsh conditions she went through she became quite the tree. I'm very proud of her. See the photo's to check it out yourself! She took her time tho, today she's at week 17.
Tomorrow is harvesting day. Will keep you posted with the results.
See ya
