Any negatives to mulching?

Hi Green peepz, Just a quick one from my side. Are there any reasons not to mulch? It clearly helps to keep the soil from drying out but what are the negatives? Thanks in advance RoyalGreen Out!

Insects can make home in there, un need that you pots don’t dry out? U can check only like a week? If not is useless, better leave the soil traspirate, no house for insects, and no overwatering problems

Did some digging and it seems MangoDudu is right, I will remove any mulching I currently have. The risk of my babies being Insect food is to high.

Given that a)I want the highest yield, and b)autos flip to flower automatically, is it basically a race to get it as big as I can during the Veg stage before it flips?
