My best sense from current research so far: Image 1 - Seedling: undernourished, needs nutes, nitrogen, also maybe some genetic failure / anomoly in some leaves. Signs of overwatering. In 25% vermiculite, 75% peat. Plan: Improve by switching to rockwool and replacing untested well water with RO, add Epson salts at 1 tsp/gallon ongoing when switching to RO. Image 2 - late state calcium or magnesium deficiency: 1 tsp/gal epson. Likely caused by heavy mystery minerals in well water. After filter its still at 200ppm, installing RO. Could be also ph flux, was in 50% vegetable garden dirt ( cheap ), 25% vermiculite, 25% peat, with Ph at 6.8. Adjusting to 5.5 ( other rockwool babies in same table ) Image 3 - Pale color / Bleaching leaves: I believe it is from too much light intensity, plants very hard to keep 2' min distance from p9-XML2, the MIN recommended distance, critical design error in system, Temp solution: scrog net installed yesterday, keep em under, defoliate any leaves blocking node sights as I go. Long term solution: TBD - either insulate the surrounding room, remove the tent lid, hang the lights 2-3' higher, or put the ebb/flow table on the ground and switch to drain to waste, using a shop vac to pull table bound overflow water from the tables. ( DONT they make a simple small water pump with a float valve for getting that sort of water out?? Also: Calmag deficiency: solution, 1 tsp/gal of Epson salts to res. ( brought res to 1350 PPM though! ) and then flood table with 1" for 5m of water for bottom feeding into smart pots ( to avoid over watering and deal with the scrog net obstacle course, should have installed drip but growing too fast to keep up ) Image 4 - monster cropped clone ( most are, came from blooming plants 1-3 weeks into bloom ) getting enough nutes, but actually looks like too much even, burnt tips: beginning of nute lockout. I was told just a lil burn is just at the right spot, pushing them to their edge, so would continue to feed at 1350ppm ( was 1100 till the epson salts addition ) - Some droopy leaves swelling between the veins: mild overwatering: recovering from overwatering 24 hrs ago, but judged it more important to get the calmag in there then let fully recover from that. Image 5 - pale leaves: light burn and/or nitrogen deficiency. Nitro deficiency makes no damn sense though, they getting 1100 ppm and now 1300ppm with epson salts added. pale between veins: calmag def. the Plat lights have a reputation for forcing plants to demand way more cal and mag. leaves curling up: heat stress. I believe the 85 F climate is perfect ( via VPD calculations ), but ONLY when humidity is high (80% ish ), so a dip in humidity could have caused, ( Or could it just be too much light causing that? ) My best sense on this set of leaves: up level with Epson salts asap ( done today ), if it doesnt solve it, drain res, let dry, flush with just calmag, then continue with full strength General Hydro and 1 tsp/gal cal mag, if that doesnt do it, overlook the prob and hope the flowers do ok, or drop VPD climate goals and go traditional 75 F and 60 RH Image 6: much the same: extreme cal/mag def. Image 7: part 1 - a preposterous mix of soil types in one garden, due to being scrappy and short on cash, and the profound complexity that adds, and the ph target of the res based on soil mix type on the table, and the target ph of the res based on soil type. part 2 - target climates and res conditions by life stage, for critique and improvements. Overall advice to self based on all of this: ( looking for improvements to this or critique ) - Any time you see cal/mag def up the level of epson salts, but don't go over 1000 ppm when you do, dilute the res. - Get the RO hooked up ASAP and reset your resivoirs. - Separate the plants by soil type onto diff tables and reservoirs, so you can treat the soil with 6.0 and the soilless with 5.0 ph and can adapt the nutes correctly to the soil, even if that means prolonging veg for another 2 weeks to let the new spread out canopies fill out the scrog nets. - Take the next 2 weeks to insulate the enclosing room so that you can ditch the nets, because those lights are already 2' apart, so your plants, no matter how much scrogging you do, will absolutely reach the plants, and if you don't your back to hand watering everything and putting them on the floor. Insulate and sterilize the surrounding room, then ditch the tents and remount the lights. Would love advice, criticism, noticed lessons from my failings, and any form of suggestions how this garden can be improved. Deeply grateful!
