Hey, growers. In my garden with 3 girls, there's a clear sativa favorite for upward growth👆. I read that you can slow down vertical growth by ring barking, which means putting a collar on the stem before flowering. Has anyone used this method? Does it work? Are there any nuances or tricks? Thanks🙏

Just like @Bhangi_Zimidar said You are growing a very fast developing plant that will go to great pengths to flower - as it grows so fast, the rings (like cable ties or something) will just either cut into the stem as it expands or it will just fatten around it, if the stem has already reached max thickness it aint gonna do squat. Your best bet is now either trying to gently develop LST over several days - go GENTLE as branches will be getting woody and will be harder to manipulate just try to spread them and control tueir stretch, otherwise you can slowly and gently try to get a 90o bend in the stem without splitting it. If you were growing a tree over 50 years then it would be a difference.

I saw practical experience with ring training on the same clones, and it works if the author isn't lying. Well, I'll try to set up an experiment.

As the flowering stage progresses, the clamp-site will stay the same size while the stem fattens around it. This creates a bottleneck effect. This would work because the stem would be constricted, limiting the uptake of nutrients.
