I won't change your mind, I too think autos are pointless!
From my experiences with them, they have nothing to offer over what can already be achieved with superior, genetically stable, generally more potent and higher yielding photoperiod plants.
Forget autos outdoors, unless you like waiting 3 months for dwarf plants and a few grams of flowers!
Forget autos indoors unless you love paying high electricity bills and leaving a huge "carbon footprint" too!
The only reason to grow them indoors is if you are incapable of altering timers.
On top of this, the fanciful time frames until maturity given by the breeders is total BS in about 99% of all cases.
Getting back to the electricity usage and using a fairly typical 12 week cycle.....
Autos = 12 weeks at 18/6 which = 1512 hours of lights on time.
Photos = 4 weeks at 18/6 and 8 weeks at 12/12 which = 504 + 672 for a total of 1176 hours of lights on time, saving a huge 336 hours of lights on time!
I know which electricity bill I would prefer!
Personally, I hope to see autos as a passing fad and for everyone to grow real plants again, the mighty photoperiod!
Everyone is able to choose what they like, but for me, it is autos never again.
Cheers, Organoman.
