Female Autoflower Hermies from Stress?

DesertGrower
DesertGrowerstarted grow question 2 years ago
Please help settle a bet I have with a buddy. If a female autoflower purchased from a reputable seed co. hermies due to stress and not from genetics, would seeds produced also be all female? Other seeds from same batch had much success so it’s definitely not genetic.

Hermies breed hermies. They will NOT be feminized.

If you get seeds from a hermi they are always female but often will not grow. Make shure you fully let them dry out like a couple of months. If you do you chances of them growing are good. Be aware though once you get a hermi seed any further seeds from that one may experience the same fate. If you have the room try it and see what the results are. I'm just cracking one myself that had two hermies and it so far looks good to bad I don't have a place to let her grow. Have a great day

So we my buddy and I have already started 10 and the oldest are about 6 weeks and already started flowering while the 2nd batch have all showed as female as well at five weeks. None appear to show any signs of herming and look quite healthy. I’m quite sure it was stress related as I literally live in the middle of nowhere and plants are in a tent inside. While there is always a possibility it could have been pollinated, it’s highly unlikely. I also had several other plants in the same grow that were fine.

You don't know if all the seeds came from the same plant you grew, could have been a mixed batch from many plants that breeder used for that strain. Seeds will be female x female cross if it was self, but could hermi again easier, or so this is my understanding. I would still grow them out, I would not hold high expectations and if they hermi again, cull em. Granted in my own experience I had a single female auto plant produce seeds, there was 4 plants in that run. out of the 3 seeds I harvested I got a prominent male plant and 2 females plants, the male had pollen sacks everywhere and no pistils. I can't 100% say it was a self hermi but I was not growing any other plants at the time and they where identical to the previous plants size, shape, smells, taste everything. So in theory it could have came from the wind into my house and into my tent. just seems unlikely when it was only one plant in the tent that made the seeds out of all 4 of them from previous grow. feels more like a single nanner popped up and made a few seeds on the one plant. Good Luck!

Ok. Yes all female but could still have the tendency to be intersex. So whether you consider that female or not is another topic. But you would not get any true males. Fem seeds are made from stopping ethylene production with silver or other materials.. this creates male parts that pollinate female parts. Still can’t rule out that it’s genetic man.. its a controversial subject .. but reality is cannabis genotypes will be in a spectrum for likelihood to go intersex. Now stress can bring out genetic intersex traits. How can you say for sure somethings purely genetic? It’s a spectrum like I said.
