The same yes and no. Also, it’s not easy to read plants sometimes. The signs like lime tips, clawing and dark foliage can be result of other stressing factors, not always nitrogen excess.
Also a proper dose of N, but wrong NPK ratio can lead to excess. Reducing N in such case can be a huge mistake.
But in general excess of nitrogen can reduce yield. Not must, but can. Take a look at Advanced Nutrients feeding charts for beginners. They suggest extreme dose of N throughout the whole grow, and if signs of burn appear they suggest to reduce dosage. But not correcting all three parts if we talk about ph perfect nutes.
Try not to push your plant to the limits. 90% of potential is great, and fairly safe.
