To answer this it's all a matter of opinion for the most part. I personally start my grow at 18hours of light/ 6 hours dark for veg, then 12/12 for bloom. Other growers like to start at 12 the first week then uncrease to 16 or 18 hours sometimes even a full 24 hours of light. I personally don't grow under 24 hours of light because this just doesn't happen in nature and plants need dark in my opinion. Hope this helps. Ps. If you're growing auto flowers you can keep your light schedule on 18 hours because well...they don't need to be put into bloom.

I agree with Lewd101 and/or Growstick... don't use 24 hours unless you need that to keep up the temps in your tent - plants need to have a rest period. 18/6 or 20/4 is perfect.... if you're growing photoperiods, you'll need to reduce that to 12/12 when you want it to flower... if you're growing autoflowers, 18/6 or 20/4 for the entire grow... Good luck!

18/6 for seedling (however only 12 is needed in the first week if you are concerned about power consumption) and depending on the genetics you select to grow you will change or "flip" your light cycle to a flower state 12/12. Now, if you are growing auto flowers this is entirely up to you, since they are crossed with the ruderalis gene it's on a timer for flower to start rather then the change of seasons ( or change of light cycle) so it can maintain the same light cycle during the entire grow. Personally I like starting my autos under 18/6 and move it to the flower tent when it's showing some preflower since my lights are more powerful in that space so my 18/6 to 12/12 is a negligible trade off in yields. most will keep there autos in 18/6 better yield if you have a decent light dedicated for it. Some growers will even opt to go 24h to try and push the yield. However the plant will express it's time to go to sleep when they start to droop prior to lights off. Tldr: photoperiod requires 12/12 to initiate flower. Auto Flowers don't discriminate based on light cycle. Hope this helps!

I use 24 hours light until it is 4 nodes, then 18 hours light whole veg. 12 hours in bloom. If clone, 24 h until roots are growing nice 🙂

18/6 is the basic starting point for all cannabis plants. If you're growing autoflowers, you can go as much as 24 hours light, but personally I wouldn't do this as I think this is simply asking for higher electricity bills for little to no benefit. If you're growing photoperiod plants, then its 18/6 throughout veg, then flip the timer to 12/12 to start the flowering period - expect your plant to stretch when you flip that timer and plan accordingly. I recommend that you start a grow diary on this website so you can upload photos and list all the nutrients you're using. That way, if you have a question later on we can all see what's happened so far in your diary and advise accordingly.

18/6 are you going indoors? Have you got all the equipment you need for growing? How many plants are you looking for growing? What sort of lights are you using? Do you have fan filters and safe area ? And what seeds are you planning on growing photos or autos ? Inbox me if you want anything more to know but growing isn't as simple as lights and plants and don't believe the times of the seed to harvest a decent growing plant from seed will.needs a good 4/8 week veg and then 2 weeks stretch and then around 8/12 Flowering I say 5 to 6 months and so much can go wrong are you in the UK?
