The time it takes to notice the effects of a nutrient supplement like Advanced Nutrients CalMag Extra can depend on several factors, including the condition of your plants, your growing system, the concentration of the product, and the pH levels of your growing medium. It's important to note that the effect is not always immediately visible. Typically, you should notice an improvement within one to two days after applying CalMag Extra if your plants indeed had a deficiency of calcium or magnesium. These nutrients can help correct specific plant deficiencies and support overall plant growth and health. However, it's worth mentioning that if your plants were experiencing severe deficiencies, the older leaves may not recover from damage, but CalMag Extra should prevent the issue from progressing further. Magnesium, in particular, can help green up the plant. It's crucial to ensure that you are applying the right amount of CalMag Extra based on the manufacturer's instructions and your plant's specific needs. If you don't see improvement after some time, it may be advisable to check other factors such as the pH levels of your growing medium, lighting conditions, and the overall health of your plants, as these can also affect nutrient uptake. In summary, the time it takes for CalMag Extra to take effect can vary, but you should generally see improvement within one to two days if your plants needed the additional calcium and magnesium. Monitoring your plants and maintaining proper nutrient levels is essential for their overall health and growth.

download a leaf symptom chart to double check diagnosis... ponder mulder's chart when things don't seem to work right.

if you think you have a magnesium issue, then add magnesium and see no change in rate of degredation (won't necessarily clear up, but should at least slow down), then maybe it is not a magnesium issue? :P i saw the other question, i can understand why people would think it could be Mg-deficiency. i would too. but assessing plant material for symptoms is not 100% accurate no matter how confident people are. the simply the context is, the more likely people will guess right. The paling didn't look interveinal in the few pics provided in that other questions, which would point elsewhere than Mg. could need more, too... but you'd see some sort of improvement or slowing of previous degradation. Mg is probably fine somewhere between 50-75ppm. i've read >50 is mostly a waste, which is something i'm going to play around with next grow, too. I've always fed between 75-85ppm Mg, but it's possibly the cause of very late bloom leaves getting a bit too dark - indicates a slow buildup over time. pH matters as far as how much you should give. if near 6.0, should be similar. other nutrients have antagonistic and sympathetic relationships.. when you add more of one, it may lockout others or sometimes when you add more of one thing you need to add something else to keep up with it. it's all about how these molecules are used as building blocks -- law conservation of mass always in effect and no element or molecule is spontaneously manifested. either you provide at needed rate or a deficiency or toxicity develops over time.. along with all the complicated relationships's and pH's effects .

Depends if your plant needed extra calcium or magnesium. or if it just need to fix its PH/EC to make it available. Might be best to start a diary so people can get a better understanding of whats happening with your plant. If it did in fact need extra Ca and Mg, it will not repair the damage of calcium deficiency on the older leaves but it will prevent it from progressing further. The magnesium tends to green up the plant similar to Nitrogen but in its own way. You should notice the difference within a day or two if this was the case. Good Luck!
