I am starting my first grow and setting up my tent. I live in Florida so humidity and temperature are not too high of a concern for me but would a dehumidifier be a good investment?

You say heat won't be a concern, but you will be surprised how much heat a HID gives off, so go with an LED. Dehumidifier would be good to keep in the room that you have your tent in. Make sure you have good air exchange in your tent via exhaust and good air circulation inside your tent. Other equipment depends on how much you need to cover the smell (get a good carbon scrubber) and you grow method (soil needs less equipment, hydro has its own concerns depending what method). I would recommend getting some cheap smart plugs. This will help greatly with setting and monitoring your lighting schedule and other equipment. Seedsman's website has a free book from Jorge Cervantes called "We Grow Cannabis" that covers a ton of info and is very thorough. I would highly recommend downloading it.

With a full tent. You can control your RH. Big plants will give off vapor higherinb your RH so a smart fan exhaust controller.. All good kits Spider-Farmer Mars-Hydro Secret Jardin Will have kits to suit all your needs. A wet towel is what I use. No exhaust and a wet towel in your environment will bring the inside temp up easy you'll be fighting RH. Good luck.

Basics needed, are a light preferably LED, a tent, an exhaust fan, oscillating fans, ducting, fabric pots and grow medium, ph meter, a veg nutrient, a Bloom nutrient and a calmag supplement (especially if using LED). Make sure you have read plenty about growing. Then purchase anything else as you go along, where you live or have your tent situated will be completely different from others. I have a dehumidifier a humidifier and a Radiator for my setup. Different times of the year create different environmental challenges to overcome.

Heat and humidity will be a problem. your lights will add heat and the plants will add moisture, especially when they are full size with lots of leaves transpiring. Growing at night can help. Definitely need a dehumidifier. Exhausting outside or to an isolated area where the humidity cannot creep back in would help too. Exhausting outside obviously wastes AC or furnace, if on. I'd grow in a lower room if heat is teh primary issue, but humidity pools at lower levels - so does CO2, which iwould be a positive in that case. If rh is uncontrollable an upstairs room might be worth a try. In a swamp that is floriday, you'll definitely need a dehumidifier, though. Go big... you don't want it running continuously.. that's hard on the equipment and possibly less efficient / unable to keep up. A 50pt frigidair can barely keep up with 40-45 sq ft of plants, for a point of reference. Large plantslate in grow force RH up to 55% even when my dehum runs continuously. Just lucky it's still a good VPD relative to my temperatures, so it's okay.
