Storing nutrient solution

I recently switched to 5 gal buckets for mixing my nutrient solution in and it was going well until I foolishly left my solution out and open to grow various slimes and what not. (At least I got to use half of it) What’s the proper way to store your solution so it doesn’t do that

Lid closed in a cool dark area is ideal, no longer then 4 days like leftovers. airtight if possible. If there is room in the fridge its good. Or freeze it and let it thaw out on the soil line in summer like how some people water orchids. Air stone can help like @Organoman suggested, it will also promote aerobic bacteria vs anaerobic and that can sometimes be a bonus. To @UBU's point, chloramine does not off gas, but you can destabilize it with UV or Vit C aka ascorbic acid then it can be off gassed. But there is so little in the water its not going to affect the grow greatly. Cannabis does not seem to be overly sensitive to CL from my experience with it, unlike some carnivorous plants, they can be really picky. Good Luck!

Best to use anything you mix up within 2-3 days... This is why trying to gas off chlorine can be worse than just leaving it as is. (expecially since chloramine, if used locally, will not gas off easily like chlorine does.) Plant needs a bit lf Cl anyway...

Most fertilizers recommend usage within 24 hours, once mixed. Adding an air stone/bubbler and keeping it in the dark may extend this slightly.
