You're wrong saying autos have to have a dark period because me like hundreds of thousands of others have grown them without a dark period. I grew the very first auto out which was the low ryder that grew to about 10inches and yielded seven grams which was almost 15yrs ago. You've clearly been getting your info from the wrong place. Like I told someone earlier, this is not a good place to get info from. I grew my first plant from bag seed in 88 when I was 18,and my first indoor hydro on rockwool was in 95.I got on a plane and went to another country 30yrs on a quest for knowledge and came home with what is known as "The Bibble" of cannabis growing so don't think I'm a typical grower, and Iv done all that while breaking the law. Iv grown 20 autos over 4 different periods with no light, and Iv grown many more where Iv rested my lights for only 1hr.Iv had grows 80 plants strong that went on for over 2yrs on a perpetual harvest so Iv experienced more than most, and that includes every area of my life. And defoliation.Check the evidence. So many breeders like the guy that does all the fast buds along with Dutch Passion recommend defoliation with some of their strains.Check out Dutch Passion which features a guy thats taken 95% of his leaves off his auto days before its due to flower and he's gota pound and half off it like the guys in Wales that get one and half kilos by doing the same.Theres a number of people that do the same.,The plant looks destroyed but its just another case of possitive stress..The majority of what I say is not just what Iv read its what Iv experienced so don't be a fool like double zero and refuse to admit you're mistaken. The guy disagreed with me about cutting the leaves of clones in half to go and do it to his next clones. How can anyone claim that theres only 1 reliable place to get info on defoliation, that's idiotic.Education does not make you intelligent.I'm not trying to be a dick I'm trying to give you some sound advice so take it as that.
ORGANOMAN , firstly thx for the guidance and fkn outstanding detailed explanations to my grow ?. (Exuse my vulgarity but it is well deserved). I figured out how to comment on answers to this site just recently, and have not needed till know. Neways, I can tell your a man of not just intelligence but of humility! And actually want to help! For this I commend you. Will look forward to your experience and knowledge in the future!

@Classified_01,Howdy, thanks for your comments! Week five is a little late but not too late if done thoughtfully. I looked in your diary at your beautiful plants (!) but as there are no recent pics, so, hard to say exactly what you need to do in your situation. However, "lollipopping" as a principle is about removing the smaller, lower growths that are not getting as much light as they need to be able to grow into chunky flowers. Now that you are at week 5, this should make it readily identifiable which of the lower branches look behind in formation or are much smaller/slower than the other, higher up branches. Usually they are thin spindly and stretched branches. Removing them by "lollipopping" means the plant will not be sharing her energy growing these smaller and fluffier lower growths. I like to remove the little "crappy" flowers, but try and leave behind (although not critical) any healthy green leaves to continue photosynthesising and therefore making energy your plant needs to grow her flowers. In effect, you are thinning out all the weaker branches and leaving all the upper and bigger growths. A quick google of lollipopping will bring up many options, but the one I found that I thought provided reasonable information (I didn't look at many though!) was on the "how to grow marijuana" website, although I wouldn't recommend going as extreme as they have depicted and especially not their "lollipopping down" technique! They do however mainly insist that it is done only during veg, but, if you are sensible and only remove the obvious smaller, weaker growths without removing more than 5-10% (max) of the total plant volume, you shouldn't run into or produce any adverse effects. You will soon get a "feel" for it and identifying what to remove becomes almost instinct like. I usually "tidy up" my plants as needed throughout the growing period, removing small or slow growing branches as they become apparent, then after 2-3 weeks of flowering or maybe a bit longer, go over my plants again and do a "final lollipopping/tidy up then, again removing all small and spindly flowers growing poorly or without enough light and then leave the plants to finish without any further disturbance, unless removing yellow leaves. Good luck and happy harvest! .... Organoman.
Thank you so much for your detailed response to my question . Also the complement in my photos ! I will definitely take a look at you images and info to compare and study from for males and hermits ... I appreciate it !
Thank you for your good word on my maybe weak stemmed seedling. It is so good to know I am not going this completely alone.
I think I will give her 1/2 inch of peat moss and drop the light 3 inches.
I can't thank you enough for taking the time out of your day to provide me with that detailed lesson and makes complete sense. Many thanks and I'm always open for more grow lessons!
Hey there and happy holidays. You had answered a grow question for me and mentioned a flush. What if I'm growing with no bottled nutrients? I amend my substrate with Natures Living soil concentrate and only water with ph'ed tap water. Do I still need to flush.
Thank you so much for helping me out with my PH question. I also found a very useful tip you gave another person about using the "plastic bag over top of germinating seed cups" and how it is not good. great tip, I had one come up and start to wilt but I removed the hood and it recovered and the other 2 came up soon after, so thank you again.
