What’s on the roots?

I’ve been using hydro guard and the solution hasn’t been above 73 and usually sits at 71. There is no odor and the brown bits kind of wipe away. Could it be bits of the clay pellets? I can’t imagine it being root rot but it seems to increase a bit every day. Plant appears healthy

Most likely die left over from your nutes leaving by products such as ph buffers and such. Tis y u need to change your water system every 7-10 days. Or when adding a new nutrient. Its best to add these wit full new mixes as adding a new nute to a pot that has eaten what was there and its buffers and such left behind can cause this slime is my few DWC grows I done Once u don't get a bad smell from the water Imo its just wat I explain

Roots develop cultures. This could be Clay bits, or it could be bits of your feed being filtered by the roots collecting
