Topping time right?

Hey peepz! Would this be the right time to top the plant? I don’t know if I should do it on an auto and outdoor grow with not optimal conditions. But just for interest, I would do it now, would it be correct?

Hello Chrisor23, You do NOT want to top an autoflower and you do NOT need to top outside. You want to top when the plant got 5-6 nodes, I would wait 1 more node and get rid of the bottom node. When you do this you've got 8 branches with buds that you can train in the right shape. Happy Growing Buddy! 💚

I agree with not topping outdoor plants. there's no variance in light intensity from top to bottom or even from the side, so there's no reason to do it. LST is plenty good enough. Spread it out as best you can. For future reference, you want to top after it develops 6-7 nodes. That's an old concept that doesn't just apply to marijuana plants. I also don't think it's a high risk relative to 1-10 home plants, so topping before that point likely won't have negative repercussions, but if you do it for a large enough number plants over time, you may run into a negative repercussion of an early topping, to put it in perspective.

With autos you really want to top as early as possible, within reason. Topping too close to flower can lead to a bit of stunting. At work we like to top our autos around 14-18 days after sprouting, if they're showing at least 3 nodes. We remove a minimal amount of the plant, just the little growth tip at the top. You gotta leave some recovery time before it starts to flower. If you miss your window you're better off leaving them untopped.if

Dont do it on outdoor plants. Your lights arent directly above the plant, so you have no to minimal advantages from topping outdoor.
