Has anyone noticed that the moment you get a correct answer chosen by the person who makes the question, you automatically get entered into the GOTM contest? I guess they do this if you’ve previously participated.

if you are selected by a question that has a diary attached, you autmatically get a point in the GOTM contest. you can withdraw at any time. Definitely possible for someone to win that contest and not know about it, but unlikely.
