Cardboard box okay?

You are still very early in drying and the buds will still be losing a lot of moisture. If it stays cool and dry 2h shouldn't be an issue, but it's not really a risk you want to take. Humidity can build up very quickly in a small space. If you do end up going this route, only close the box as your family arrives and open it as soon as they leave and if you have any of those silica gel packs, throw them in there for what it's worth. They should help absorb a bit of the moisture.

If they are only going to be there for 2-3 hrs I don’t see it hurting things much at all. However, I would really try to find a better place that has some sort of air flow…even if it’s very little. Use a very strong candle in the main room where everyone will be and maybe try a good air purifier close to ground zero.

That's like asking for your buds to mold,and you will still smell it. 2 hours might not sound like a lot, but I wouldn't risk it. if you were further into drying it wouldn't be a big a deal, and may not even smell too much, but you are kind of at a critical point of drying. you don't want it to go too fast or slow. Not sure if you have somewhere else you could put it but even in a car with the window cracked if it's in the shade/ and not above 70F would be better than in a box with no air. just throwing some ideas out there. you may have to get creative if you want to be stealthy. i would try to get a carbon filter they work great. i dried one of my plants inside and venteed the air through the filter back into the room and did not smell it,and it was some strong terpy buds.
