They can get out of hand really quick, but you can keep them in check with some predatory mites.
Bugs will be stuck in the trichomes either way, so I would rather have a mix of predatory and spider mites stuck to the flower and no more spidermites around than only have spidermites stuck and still have the plant full of them. They do try to avoid them, because they get stuck and die, so isn't a huge problem.
Some ladybugs will eat spidermites, but that is not the common species' main diet.
Minute pirate bugs are great spidermite killers if you can get hold of them and they don't get stuck in the flower much.
While you are waiting, I would scout and squash as many as you can to keep the population under control.
One or 2 can turn into 100 or 200 fast, so for every one you kill now, it's 100 less tomorrow. Not exactly, but you get the point.
