My living soil in a fabric pot has compacted, sinking the plant 10cm.

I'm in week 2 since sprout, and the leaves are hitting the pot edges. I tucked them outward, but it's not ide. Can I top up the soil even with a second node forming at the bottom? Also, soil on top of old Mulch (hemp straw) not a problem?

I mean yea, you could top the soil, but it'll probably discourage vertical growth and slow down current growth, due to all the new soil the roots can take over. Mulch shouldn't be a problem, its just going to decompose if you put more soil on top. And about the nodes on your plant; I would always chop the first and second node off the bottom during later stages of veg. Their not going to perform very well later on and are probably not worth wasting energy on during flower. For me personally, I would wait out for her to gain more vertical height. To encourage vertical growth I would dim the lights and hang the lights a bit higher. If you're outdoor, there is really not much else to do to dramatically encourage vertical growth. In the end, its really just a plant and it eventually will grow in height if it has enough light, nutrients and water.

some pictures would help visualize the situation. Pick off the mulch if you decide to top dress and replace it with fresh stuff.

fold the pot lip down. You said it is fabric, right? Easy peasy. Staple it or pin it. Yeah, you can top off the soil if you want. is the 2nd node branchless? no biggie if buried? it and any stem that gets reburied may or may not have time to form new roots, so nothing wrong with that. if the node is not used, just prune off any nascent branching. May want to pull the straw up on put back on top, but covering it is fine too.. just better drainage at that level.
