Brown spots right on top of the bud, could this be bud rot?

No, I was worried about the natural anthocyanins in the plant looking like bud rot too. It's just the plant changing color like on the leaves down there. check out my last week of flower Nevilles haze I had a smaller top bud completely encased in it. its a good example of the color. almost turns the bud brownish orange. This is looking more purple red
