sure, just give it 18/6 and wait... you'll see funky growth and an insane amount of branching for a few weeks. Once that stops, you'll have much higher percent chance of clones rooting. You can try to take cuttings before that point too, but take a lot more than you need. You'd still need to wait for that funky growth to end if you don't want a bunch of popcorn bud - might have 100s of bud sites but they'll be tiny buds.
The genes don't change because it flowerd, as best i know. This would be odd, lol. So, yeah once it's back to normal health and growing normally, the clones will be fine.
There's a myth that clones of clones are weaker too, but that's not true, either.
I think the idea that a revege is weaker is because people tried to put it into flower too soon after all that weird axillary growth created more mouths (bud sites) than what can be produced well - Misattributing cause and effect. Most people will never blame their own actions as the cause of a less than expected result.
So, don't be afriad to thin it out. Prune off excess growth tips and excess branching. Although if it's a "mother" this may be a good temporary thing. new growth will snap out of it before long, though.
