A humidity dome will avoid the need to repeatedly moisten the substrate. Remove it once they sprout, though.
don't water every day, but don't let the substrate get dry, either. This is why i use a dome. Even in a 2.5"x2.5" seedling pot, it stays moist 'enough' for up to 6-7 days.
To be sure -- when you first irrigated you got the entire thing wet, correct? Don't superficially water, ever.
i'd rather not have to water when the seedling has not sprouted, yet. I'd rather do it after sprouting so as not to disturb the process in any slight way. If there is some laggard that requires it, i'll carefully water along edges and make sure it absorbs into the whole thing. The last thing you want is the top portion being wetter than the lower portion of substrate. The taproot will grow upward in those conditions (it turns toward greater moisture like a reflex) and that is ass-backward.
