Your pot looks like a bucket. If you have not made drainage holes, you need to.
The bottom of the bucket could be an anerobic swamp and rotting the roots if the water can't run out.

water it. don't let it dry out so much. I feel like this isn't a real question, lol. Removing a fan leaf definitely did not cause this
