Also of note your cuts look terrible, inside each stem there are a set of tubes called xylem and phloem. When we cut stem if we do so with bulky scissors these tubes get crushed and damaged very easily. If these tunes get damaged in the slightest then there will be no roots or water uptake.
Cut at 45 degree with a razor or sharp knife. This is also paramount to success, clean cuts with sterile blade. Anything that applies a crushing effect as it cuts is no good.
