What would happen if changing light cycle 18/6 to 3x(6/2) or even 4x(5/1)? Anyone try/hear?

Interesting a brand new account making a diary adding 3 weeks in a matter of minutes. Then asking a grow question on the diary.

No............grow/sleep,grow/sleep constantly would mess them up. Hermies most likely would be the outcome.

autoflower? nothing. Photopoeriod in vege - nothing Photoperiod in flower - re-vege or something detrimental like causing a hermaphrodite. DLI is 99% of what matters. As long as you give the same DLI over a range of potential operating hours, then there will be virtually no effect, all other factors the same. This of course does not apply to flower phase as that needs 10+ hours of uninterrupted darkness not to fuck it up. Genetic variety as to exact length of darkness required. This plant is dark-dependent. The length of dark cycle is what causes a hormonal feedback loop in the plant to the reproductive cycle, aka flower or bloom phase.

I once took a sift work course. In it they explained you do a full sleep cycle in approx 90 min. You need 3- 4 to recharge body and 2-4 after to recharge your mind. Im not sure if that translates to anything but thought id mention it. Also ask a bee

It needs a clean period of 12hours at a time, if less still at a time. They need time to fall asleep and wake up, takes like 2 hours each. For them there is one nighttime at a day, Otherwise they get confused and stressed out, till they probably die

I don't think the plant would ever "sleep". Only 1-2 hours of light every 5-6 hours is not enough IMO. I think stress would be harder to overcome as well, with such a short down time. Idk what it would do to terpene synthesizing...

Are you saying making the plants get shorter than 24hr light/darkness cycle. For a plant to fp into flowering it need 12 hours kf darkness to flower. It makes something called florogen and the lower the lights are out it builds that up tell the plants to make flowers durring the day. If your growing autoflowers then I'm sure you could get away with that weird light cycle. The only thing is plants still like to rest they may not get enough rest or you might confuses them and they might not grow very fast Itmwould be a good experiment.todo with some autoflowers
