Two seeds, same cultivar, 1 week difference, both pop neck bended with white woody spot at the base of one of the cotyledons. Doesn't spray the leaves, the membrane wasn;'t getting off w/o help. And I know it's not substrate - 2 other breeders germinated 100% and look healthy. TY

Could try different germination method with them seeds. Seems more like a seed issue and maybe its sensitive to the medium? If the medium has a bunch of stuff in it I would use something simpler to eliminate that possibility of to munch at once. Real simple mix. perlite, coir/peat and some compost. stupid simple. 30% perlite, 20-30% compost, 40-50% coir/peat Some seeds are just bad at being plants. Giving the other plants where fine it looks more like its a strain specific thing or a bad batch of seeds. I had something like this reticently with CBG seeds, from my experience with it all they are "special needs" and need a bit more love to get going vs other seeds. Maybe this is from how they bread them to be CBG dominate or something else. No idea, but I switched my medium and germination method and it helped with the ones I had extra seeds of. I also soaked them for 12 hrs to help that outer shell loosen up a bit. some soak for 24-48hrs. I find its to long but to each their own. If u suspect some other things like bacteria/fungal issues you can soak the seeds in 3% peroxide for 5-15 min then regular water, will help kill off any of the spores/bacteria on the shell that maybe pathogenic. When things die at the base of the plant chances are its from "dampening off" a type of fungus, but I normally see this at the soil level not the growth tip of the seeding, it can be avoided by using new seed starting mix that is pasteurized.

Probably weak stock or old seed.

The image appears to show a close-up of a cannabis seedling with a bent stem (pop neck) and a white spot at the base of one of the cotyledons. The seedling also seems to have difficulty shedding its seed coat (membrane). Questions & Answers: 1. What is happening? Based on the visual evidence, the cannabis seedling is exhibiting symptoms that could be indicative of several issues: Damping-off: This is a fungal disease that can cause stem rot and death in young seedlings. The bent stem and white spot are suggestive of damping-off. Nutrient Deficiency: While less likely at the seedling stage, nutrient deficiencies can sometimes cause abnormal growth and discoloration. Genetic Predisposition: In some cases, the bent stem and difficulty shedding the seed coat could be due to genetic factors within the specific cultivar. 2. Two seeds, same cultivar, 1 week difference, both pop neck bended with white woody spot at the base of one of the cotyledons. Doesn't spray the leaves, the membrane wasn't getting off w/o help. And I know it's not substrate - 2 other breeders germinated 100% and look healthy. TY The information provided in the text further supports the possibility of damping-off: Two seeds, same cultivar: Both seedlings from the same cultivar exhibit similar symptoms, suggesting a common cause rather than a genetic issue specific to one plant. 1 week difference: The appearance of symptoms in both seedlings with a week's difference suggests a gradual infection or environmental factor. Doesn't spray the leaves: This indicates that the issue is not related to foliar diseases or pests. Membrane wasn't getting off w/o help: Difficulty shedding the seed coat can be a symptom of stress, which could be caused by damping-off. Not substrate: Ruling out the substrate as the source suggests that the issue might be airborne or related to other environmental factors. 2 other breeders germinated 100% and look healthy: This comparison suggests that the issue is not widespread and might be specific to the affected seedlings. Recommendations: Given the strong possibility of damping-off, here are some recommendations: Isolate the Affected Seedlings: Separate the affected seedlings from healthy ones to prevent the spread of the disease. Improve Air Circulation: Ensure good air circulation around the seedlings to reduce humidity and discourage fungal growth. Consider a Fungicide Treatment: If damping-off is confirmed, a fungicide treatment might be necessary. Consult with a local gardening expert or horticulturalist for appropriate fungicide recommendations. Monitor Other Seedlings: Keep a close eye on the remaining seedlings for any signs of similar symptoms. Additional Information: Seed Source: Information about the seed source and germination method could be helpful in understanding the issue. Environmental Conditions: Details about the environmental conditions where the seedlings are germinating (temperature, humidity, light) can also be valuable. I hope this analysis and recommendations are helpful.
