ViparSpectra KS3000 PAR values/hanging height

Anyone running ViparSpectra KS3000 lights? I had to lower to 17" at 80% for veg settings to get PAR values close to what they say I should get at 26.2" or even 24". I bought two new lights and are they are the same. Anyone else have to lower the lights way lower than expected?

Light is 320w, tent is, I'm guessing, 3x3 = 35w per sq.ft. - Decent but far from over powered. Your tent is physically fully covered by the light, so you don't have to worry about spread, only about intensity, and you're in a situation where you can't get too much Crank it to the max and drop it to 10''-12'' the plants will tell you if you need to back off, but I'm betting it'll be the opposite :) With LED strip lights you want to get as close to the plants as possible, anything higher than 12'' above canopy is basically a waste of electricity. Don't let measuring instruments decide for you and your plants, especially not based on specs from a Chinese light seller who've never grown weed, ever. Push everything to the max, in veg you win time, in flower you win trichs ;)

26" is too far away for that light anyway. 16-18" will still likely give the coverage it advertises and properly focused light. if VPD is on point, can probably get it closer, but then it comes down to maintaining good umol/s at edges/corners. you don't want it too drastically different. It'll be weaker but you can minimize the difference from center areas to some extent. Also, if these are photoperiods and you only have that 1 light, you want it optimized for 67% power so that when you go from 18h to 12 hours of operation, you keep everythign the same but amp up to 100%. This way your hanging distance is still based on best canopy coverage possible. It is inversely proportional to hours of operation. I use 16/8 for vege, so i'm around 75% over 16h and 100% over 12h. Same DLI is the key.
