For me dry amendments are a nice option. I like the fact I mix it in and can forget it. just water, don't really even need to PH it if I mix in other things to alter the soils PH. It can be complated and if things go off can be harder to recover. Its a living soil so things need to be in check.
Like numbers said going soilless can also be good. For me I don't like mixing it all up and thinking about runoff. However if you have an automatic watering system and shits connected to a drain, its a great thing. Mix up the res and bobs your uncle. You control all aspects so if something goes sideways its easier to troubleshoot.
Not all fertilizers are created equally. some are lesser, most of the good ones will have buffers in them to prevent PH from drifting.
