Prep Coco Coir

Hi guys, I didn't prepare everything properly the first time I tried Coco Coir, so my autoflowers had problems for the first 3 weeks - not good. That's why I wanted to ask how I can properly prepare my soil. I use BioBizz Cocomix and their Organic Fertilizers.

Hi bud. As a BioBizz user myself, your question confuses me. The instructions how to use Coco-Mix are literally written on the bag. Did you check the bag? Did you check their website? If the bag/website doesn't state anything about preparation, then there is none needed. For example, BioBizz AllMix states (after you placed soil in a pot) to water the substrate at least 3 days before usage, so the microorganisms get activated and are ready to help your plant nourish. The only preparation you will undertake with Coco-Mix is your own making. Even then, the preparation for a seedling looks much different than the preparation for a plant that is 6 weeks old. If you have the entire line of BioBizz organic fertilizers, did you read how and when to use and apply them? It doesn't seem you did. Read the instructions on the bag. Read up on their website. Check the feeding recommendations BioBizz made. Then, if you still don't understand it, pm me and I can try to help you through what BioBizz is recommending. Sorry for coming off a bit arrogant right now but it annoys me when people want a walkthrough when the answers were right under their nose the whole time. Hope this helps, even just a little.

Usually the loose stuff is already processed. cocoforcannabis has a step-by-step process for buffering coco if you want to make sure. Soaking in calcium nutrate to replace all the K+ and Na+ at cation exchange sites. for the sake of others reading - coco coir can absolutely make you rplants sick or even kill them. It's a sodium riddled plant near the ocean, lol. It takes a lot of fresh water to rinse and then buffer it. Anyone that says it's good for the environment is fooling themselves. I'm not a fan after using it for a couple years. It's water holding capacity kinda sucks and not worth the risks depending on consistency from common manufacturers. The 70/30 coco+perlite is convenient but i find it;s worth the extra effort to mix some promix with vermiculite #3 (50/50).

I've personally only used the compressed bricks, not pre expanded stuff. Most claim to rinse and buffer their products but they're also working that stuff up in large batches so consistency in their process can always be questioned. All a pre rinse costs you is a little bit of pHed water and a small amount of time. Better safe than sorry. Many growers use little to no perlite with coco, which can slow early root development. A healthy mix of it drastically improves drainage. You'll need to feed more often, but really with coco that's what you wanna do anyway. Fabric pots also help with dryback further assisting in frequent irrigation. Be careful "feeding from day 1" like many recommend with coco. You can still burn the hell outta seedlings and small plants without much in the way of roots can't really feed much anyhow. Generally just pHed water with calmag is enough until real vegetative growth begins. Seedlings pull most of their nutrients from the cotyledons that first week or so. I've never used Biobizz personally but about 80-90% of the nutrient issues/deficiency problems I see on here are from people using their products, so take that for what it's worth...

I doubt it was the coco that caused you issues before. All good quality coco is pre treated.

???? Its coco, so feed from day one. Saturate pot well , dont let pots to reabsorb run off. Branded coco comes prebuffed, so don't need any extra care. Keep good ph in range 5.8-6.0 during veg, bump to 6.0-6.2 during flower. Adequate humidity and temps, light intensity and distance , and all should go amazing, with huge harvest and nice buds ...
