I’m about to start my second grow, my media is 70% coco perlite mix 30% worm castings and i’m using gaia greens dry amendments, I’ve been told I should also add some cal mag. Should i add the cal mag to the media or wait and top dress. At what point would you add the cal mag?

Don't use dry amendmants, use liquid fertilizers and avoid all potential issues. Dry amendmants may seem easy, but they cause more issues for growers on this form than nearly every other single issue that I have noticed over the years here at Grow Diaries............just saying. Use a liquid cal/mag supplement and give it evey second irrigation ............or whatever the manufacturer recommends. When growing in coco coir, you will usually need to cal/mag from the first week onwards, all the way through until maturity.

1ml per 100 ml. Raise if you see some issues. Good Luck.

Depends on who's cal-mag you use. I use 3ml per gallon every water starting in growth phase. Botincare cal-mag is mild and can be used every water. Watch out for Foxfarm's Gringo Rasta cal-mag it's only good one time start of Flower. Any more it'll do damage. But I'm growing in soil.

Depends on how much calclium that other stuff adds. The plant needs consistent levels of calcium at all times. Really should use some perlite in that mix (or similar drainage amendment). 30% of volume for the water capacity of coco, not sure of how worm castings impact that. coco only needs 'more' calcium if it was poorly buffered by the manufacturer. Otherwise, it will not impact how much calcium the plant uses. As with most things, especialyl with a bunch of unknowns, trial and error is all you can do. Start with teh instructed dose, and observe and react to the plant if it shows symptoms. simple as that. when you find that happy zone, write it down for future use. Nobody has the exact answer for you no matter how confident they are.

Look up buffering coco. You can pre soak coco in the cal mag solution to basically charge it with calcium and magnesium. This is done before mixing. Coco will pull magnesium and calcium from media and is why you have to add cal mag when using it. If you pre charge it with cal mag, you can extend time before needing to add it. There's a couple good videos out there explaining this and how to do it. Best of luck! Happy Growing!

Just go small and see how she acts from that I use canna calmag and in coco I would give ½mll every other feed until bigger then up to 1mll every other. Bit your plant will dictate.. it's only because the coco will take small amounts magnesium so really your just topping that up so some gets to the plant.. Don't go mad with it.. small amounts..
