Chop or wait?

I asked this question a few days ago and was given the sage advice to take a closer look at the buds to better guage harvest time from the trichome development/colour. I took some better photos and looking for some advice/opinions. Do I chop, wait and how long for? Thanks 🙏

Solid heuristics below if you don't know the exact maturity you want. The pistils turning is much more likely to go wrong than going by trichs. Old timers would look for "15%-20% amber" trichomes in an attempt to balance out the maturity of the average trichome when the flower is done. I personally harvest with minimal amber (with the caveat that many strains will have a small wave turn amber, then produce another wave of fresh). I enjoy maximum psychoactive effect. Fun experiment is to find your favorite "indica" and then harvest two weeks early and see how she hits, because the indica/sativa stuff is about as much science as dancing for rain to fall. My personal rationale is that (1) you can always further mature your trichomes later but you can never go back [without chemical assistance] and (2) I am a flavor chaser and IME harvesting for peak milky often gives one a much more exotic terp profile that stays more true to slower still alive on the stem. All things considered, I would agree another week of patience would be fine even harvesting for peak milky.

Make sure to only check tricombs growing directly from the buds the tricombs coming from the sugar leafs will change early. You could chop now if you wanted but if you look at the top of the buds in your photos you will see some calex starting to fourm and dense up together. If you wait a few more days to harvest you will see more calex develop and it should fill it some more with plant matter looking similar to the top the plant. Your getting close I like to look for most the hairs on the whole plant to change and then when most of the tricombs are milky white and not see thru anymore and then some of the tricombs start to turn amber I don’t wait till a bunch are amber just around 15% or so but make sure most of them are not see thru anymore

Yea, week or more. You don't even have to scope the trichomes, yet. When the hairs look long, that means the calyxes still have a lot of plumping to do. (not referencing pistils curling up...)

I’d say about a week and a half. Keep an eye on the trichomes, and when most are cloudy with some amber, it’ll be time to harvest. But it's just a guess lol, you can always harvest in stages if you want, usually the tops that are under direct light mature faster, so you could just harvest the tops in about a week let's say and the rest a few days or a week later.

Hi bud. Great shots you took there! I was gonna say, she looks ripe for the harvest by my standards... (there is a lot of milky and some amber going on on the flowers. These specific bud sites look ready. Dunno about the bud sites lower in the canopy though.) ..then I read the other comments and now I am not sure haha. Both of them have been growing far longer than I. If they say 7 days minimum, no matter the reasons, it will take a minimum of 7 days.

That could take another 2wks.Its going to take more than 1wk that's for sure.Almost all the pistols want to be amber just like the trichomes. You can go when trichomes are milky but they say the more amber the more sedating the effect but I doubt you'll notice so I'd give it at least 1wk to 10 days then see.
