Quantum boards? 18-24" Bar/strip style frame? 12-18" Efficacy of the LED as well as local temp, rh and co2 will dictate, so it varies by garden to some extent. 6" ballpark sounds small but it's a huge impact. Are you damaging the plant or are the resulting growth nodes too tight? If not, you are fine. There's not one-size-fits-all answer to lighting distance. Observe growth pattern and adjust to what you see. Your local climate and all the variances of LED equipment makes for a different optimal hanging distnace in every garden. Because the many diodes distribute the light better than a single bulb, you will be much closer than you were with HPS. Download a free light measuring app.. really doesn't matter which as they are all a conversion from klux unless you have a fancy, expensive probe that can connect to your phone. Proportional intensity is enough to even out the light from wall to wall while not sacrificing overall average of the readings -- more locations measured the better and same distance from light of course. A length of rope standardizing distance can help do this quickly. While you want to reduce the variance of readings from center to edges, you don't want to sacrifice overall average. That'd just be wasting photons. MAybe, some minimal amount is fine, but definitely don't go too far on that side of things - further away creates a more even coverage but at some point it'll obvioulsy be a negative effect. If only providing a little too much, it might takes several weeks to see ramificaitons of too much light.. It's not necessarily 'solved' immediately. It may take more adjustment down the line. Take some notes and in future it won't deviate much... The more tightly you control temp/rh/co2, the less deviation will occur. Seasonal changes can definitely impact what "optimal is" ... it is relative to these factors, so it ebbs and flows with them.

LED lights are a popular choice for indoor cannabis growing because they're energy-efficient and produce less heat than traditional grow lights. However, it's essential to maintain the correct distance between the LED light and your plants to prevent damage and ensure optimal growth. The optimal distance between an LED light and cannabis plants depends on the wattage of the light and the stage of growth. Generally, seedlings and young plants should be kept further away from the light to avoid burning them. As the plants mature, they can tolerate closer proximity to the light. To determine the correct distance, start with the manufacturer's recommendations and adjust as needed based on your plant's response. Observe your plants for signs of stress, such as leaf discoloration or curling, and adjust the light's height accordingly. Remember, it's always better to err on the side of caution and keep the light a bit further away than too close.

Hey there your lights seem to be an ok distance away from your plants although LEDs are a lot different than growing old school with some hps. LEDs brands all use different led chips and transformers for the lights so each light even lights with the same wattage are not nessarly putting off the same amount of light. That being said LEDs also are dimmable so it’s possible to have your light super close to the plant turned down lower or have it further away turned up to a higher intensity I would suggest you buy a par meter/ reads umols’S… don’t buy a lux meter even though they are cheeper a lot of people will say they read the same thing but they don’t there similar but it will not help you dial in your plants and lights In my experience when plants are flowering if you have just a 100w light you can have it quite close at 100% like a 8 to 12 inch’s from the plants now if you have something like a 200 or 300watt light durring flower at 100% I would stay more like 12 to 20 inch’s from the plants depending on setup. With larger lights than that you will have to spend a lot of money to invest in those big boys and if your spending that kinda money you need to buy a par meter because it will be hard to just eye ball the right amount of light with a 500 to 1200 watt light . You can easily burn plants with big lights Your doing a good job so far your plants look healthy and they don’t seem to be stretching to much or anything so just eyeballing it you are around the right ball park with the amount of light your pushing. You can slowly increase light intensity until the end off week 7 just slowly increase the light daily watch the plants the will start to tell you if you have give to much light and then back it down a bit if you went to far then after week 7 slowly decrease light intensity about 15% over the ending period of flower last 2 or 3 weeks with average plants Good luck

Hard to judge distance without a photo showing the lights relative to the canopy, but if you're in week 6 and using LEDs for the first time, aim for 35–45 cm during flower depending on your light's power. Watch for signs like leaf tacoing or bleaching at the top – if you see that, back them off a bit. LEDs hit differently than HPS, especially with penetration and heat profile, so better to start higher and adjust down gradually.

Asking for grow light distance is a suboptimal metic, You better of with DLI & PPFD Since the requierment of your plants is different in every stage of their life ( Seedling, early VEG, Late VEG, Strech, early Flower, Late Flower ) it also depends on your Watt input you selected & efficency of your Lightning + the heat it produce, all that plays a big role in ajusting the light… Their is an App called „ Photone“ their you can read your DLI&PPFD & ajust according to the need of your ladys

Ps, Seedlings ~45–50cm, Veg around 30–40cm, Flower 25–35cm depending how the plants react. If in doubt, start higher, it's way easier to lower than to fix light stress later.

First time on LED? Keep those Kaizen bars 30–40cm above canopy, especially in veg and early flower. If you see tacoing or weird leaf angles, they’re too close. Start higher, lower slowly. Don’t trust room temp — check leaf temp at the top. You’ll adjust quick. LEDs ain’t magic, just stronger in a different way.
