Those are future branches from what i can see in the blurry picture.

when thy are that new/undeveloped, their are no preflowers to assess. Even the lower, older growth nodes don't have preflowers, yet. You have loads of time to identify male plants before they can ever cause a problem.
In picture 2, the pointy things are 'stipules' and they are not related to gender.
