Coconut fiber pots

Anyone has previous experience with coconut fiber pots? Will the drainage be ok and later when I put them on the ground will be ok for root penetration? I want to go that way because of autos avoiding transplant shock.

Not a fan..........they dry out way too fast and the roots have trouble escaping. Far better to use simillar sized black plastic pots and be careful/gentle when transplanting.

Funny that, I bought some 10cm ones for the first time last week for the same reason. I bought them to start a couple of autos and clones in as I thought the ones I bought were thinner than most as thats what the seller said. The tops are really thin but further down they're pretty think and will certainly restrict the roots. You can't use them as they are. I'm going to try and put some holes in mine, tear them up a bit. I did think about those thin white cloth type pots that are made for transplanting but I went with these.I also lokked at the small fabric pots as they say they're fine to transplant. If its only for a couple of weeks I'd go with the thin white see through cloth ones and if its more than a few weeks the black fabric ones look better as they're stronger. Not sure about how well they'll do in the soil but should be fine. Can you not put them in the final pot?Iv got good results with coco in the final pot in my garden a number of times with autos.3-4oz and thats in the UK with crap weather,ha.I did have them under a light for the first few weeks though. You will need to water coco daily on hot dsays when they get bigger though.

Also they dry out rather fast if you let them breath, I you don't I already had heavy mould. On the other hand, a friend of mine is a big fan and took my leftover pots after I didn't like the roots after harvest.😅

Shitty cardboard pots work well too, couple waterings and they fall apart tho.

My favourite pots 😉 yeah I like to beat them up alittle before I fill em, sxrunch them up in your hands and stretch em out a bit, after a little use they start to break down and roots blast through np. Brand new pots can sometimes be a little tough to penetrate if they are well made.

Have used them, I find if the roots of the plant are not to aggressive they can sometimes have issues going out past the pot, Coir takes a few years to fully breakdown its gets a bit soft but still maintains a lot of its shape. Peat pots I find break down a bit better.. You can also cut and make slits in the pot so its easier for roots to break free. should be fine in the short term.
