Bonjour à tous, question sur la lecture de E.C a la sortie du pot dans une culture en terre. La valeur ce prend a quel moment ? Et faut il remué la solution avant ou juste mettre le stylo directement ? Merci à vous, keep in growing, bonne journée

when fully saturated after an irrigation... Understand that the values you see are not entirely accurate. So, this will be more useful to you after you form a good familiarity with a baseline while the plant is healthy and happy.... if it normally reads a bit higher than you would expect with excellent health and growth, then that is the bsaeline you want to stay near in future. You need to learn a healthy baseline before assuming what it is. Any sort of evaporation that has occured will increase EC readings. Soil readings are just wonky to start. Too many possibilities of inconsistent readings etc. Probably best to collect samples from specific areas in a consistent manner. don't over do it or you are just ripping up roots for OCD behaviour. This can definitely be useful once you develop some familiarity but there may be better ways to control the outcomes. e.g. in soilless, 10% runoff ensures nutes don't build up. It may rest higher than the exact fertilizer formula, but it will reach an equilibrium that stays consistent, which is all that matters in a soilless context. if you also use a ph-buffered fertilizer, there's virtually nothing that can go wrong in all contexts but an act of god, lol.

Yo Cooky_420L when you're checking EC in soil, best time to do it is right after watering and collecting runoff. That runoff tells you what salts are building up in the medium, so you know if you're under- or overfeeding. If you're not getting runoff, do a slurry test mix 1 part soil with 2 parts distilled water, let it sit 15–30 mins, then stir and test. Always stir the water or slurry before sticking the EC pen in, or your reading might be off. Stirring evens out the nutrient mix, so you get a true read of what the roots are seeing.👊👍

Hey Growmie, When you're checking EC in a soil culture, the timing and method matter to get accurate results. If you're using the slurry method, it's best to take your reading after mixing soil from the root zone (not just the surface) with distilled water in a 1:2 ratio (1 part soil to 2 parts water). Let it sit for 15–30 minutes, stir it well before inserting your EC pen, and then take the reading. Stirring is important because it helps evenly distribute any salts or nutrients in the mix. Skipping that step can give you a false reading. If you’re doing a runoff EC test, make sure to collect the first bit of runoff water right after watering (about 10-20% of the total). You can just put your EC pen straight into that, but again, if it’s been sitting for a minute, give it a quick stir first. Always use a calibrated pen and clean it after use for best results. Keep growing strong!
