the soil mixes usually need more perlite or similar.. easy enough to fix and still simpler than mixing your own from scratch. soft-stemmed, flowering plants are fairly similar. you'll be fine. If the marijuana plant needs moer of soemthing, you'll see symptoms and can pre-emptively supplement it in future to avoid the issue.. easy-peasy as with any other 'soil' else it's the same trial and error process. the people that think this plant is picky or difficult to feed are usually shooting themselves in the foot and it's nothing to do with the specific soil they used. it's more about the misuse of products and trying to treat the plant like foie gras.

Notes back from my answer below ... Tomato plants can deplete certain nutrients and potentially harbor soilborne diseases and pass on to the next grown plant in that soil... That's what I was talking about. Apart from that your golden...

Yes you can. Cannabis is in fact a plant and will grow like many other plants. Most things advertised for tomatoes are great for cannabis as they are also heavy feeders who like calcium enriched soils. The canna industry loves to hype and upsell basic shit. Some of it is indeed neat but still way overpriced. When I started growing I treated them like a tomato plant, they did just fine. I started using canna specific products and my results where about the same. so I went back to treating them like tomatoes as its cheaper. The does all the heavy lifting when it takes in the basics and turns them into THC exct. Your main options when growing are soil vs soiless & amendments vs liquid feed. their are many types of soiless like DWC or Coir and many types of amendments and liquid feeds. some better then others. If doing indoors I;d susgest soiless with liquid as its easy and quick to correct. Many 1 and done systems to make it stupid simple. If growing outdoors going dirt/earth or a living soil. useing a combo of amendments and liquid. I like to amend in the calcium and micros. then feed the macors liquid. NPK. always great to have a microbe booster in their or something like it. Compost exct.

I have heard something about not using old tomato soil, can't remember exactly what it is but I never grow anything other than tomatoes from it, all being well With the soil etc... Think the plants put something in the soil that doesn't agree with other plants.. Like what's been said there are easier ways coco etc... You could airate the soil with perlite and clay pebbles as they don't breakdown like perlite but if you condition your soil with labs or humic acids then you should be good conditions growing in... Good luck 🍀.... Living soil is a whole new hobby lol

You can/ I have but I recommend against it. It appears a Coco coir/perlite mix is much better for the plant. I have had numerous watering/fungus/Ph issues, which I attribute mostly to a bad soil mix to start. In planning my next grow, I am definitely going with Coco/Perlite medium.

I’m sure it will grow, but through past experience you need soil that is light and fluffy with some perlite in there to help it soak and drain well and most importantly allow the oxygen in to the roots. Overwatering is so easy to do with poor soil. Get a better quality soil and save issues down the line. Good luck with your grow
