Genetic variety.
"12 hours" of darkness is used indoors to safely cover all the variety. Outdoors, you wil find some enter flower phase before others.
Unless the effort is worth it, i'd just let it happen. I guess there could be some convenience of a tighter harvest window, but having the work naturally spaced out a bit can be useful too.
trying to force it entails you sticking to a daily routine until the length of night is long enough on your own -- a threshold you only know retroactively. So, you have to do it longer than you think to be safe. If you forget to do it and the natural length of night is not long enough, yet,, you could cause a re-vege.
Keep it simple. Stop overthinking it.
