I am trying to learn some more about under lighting as i want to put it in my next grow. I am basically wondering about all of it. I am wondering about style of light, light placement, power of light & light covers maybe so water from humidifier or watering like mistaken splashes

it is for the birds if you're in a tent or residential room....the bottom of leaves to not accept photons as the top do you see folks going for supplemental lighting, then you see them making suboptimal canopies and leaving lower nugs on do your canopy right and take any larfy buds off the bottom and then there is no need whatsoever for under canopy lights...by definition they're going to not do much If they're red and used on a separate timer, could be nice. Otherwise just hand wavey waste of time

Side lighting maybe...... Under lighting, no..........only the upper surface of leaves is able to capture light for photosynthesis.

Tried under and side light. IMO side lights work better. best when used with scrog. I put them on all 4 sides in hight of the scrog net with a slight downward angle. So they can shine on the upper side of the leaves where most of photosynthesis happens. Buds def get denser and ripen faster

If it was worth doing everyone would do it. The cost, time, setup versus return just isn’t there. I’ve seen many try and abandon this idea in the past. Sometimes it’s just something you have to learn for yourself.

Always much oppinions of people don‘t use Under Cannopy Lights themselfe… Better listent to those that use it in the first place or at least used it & have experience, not just theoretical knowledge… Use it the second run, Migro Aray Intra Cannopy Light 130W Bar Can‘t Brust in 100% Most of the time not even 50% in my small tent 120x60 cm because it generate more heat, in winter time it‘s nice in Summer time no so nice… Also the red Diods could burn the leafs if to close or not enough light spread, Faven as i know has better light distribution so that wouldn‘t be the Problem… The buds don‘t develop as the Tops but still much better in quality & size than, less trim work during the grow & more yield ( about 15-25%) Usefull for extracts, Butter or wash/ Hash in my oppinion & also pretty smokabel but when you have enough you start Smoking the best stuff first 😎 But it‘s additional when everything else is in place, so when your Set up is on point the you could add it, also when your plant are small you don‘t need it… since you need some place for light destrubution und placement… But still better to heat up the tent in winter time than a Heater that use way more Energy to keep up the temps…

The problem is the bottom side of the leaf is not the same as the top. Light has to traverse more layers and is attenuated from underneath... So any light hittin gthere is significantly less impactful than light hitting the top of a leaf. The intensity (umol/s) would have to be very low, because in some cases you will have contact with the leaves or be within inches etc. With the heavy shielding, it's not going to penetrate far, so a high umol/s isn't needed anyway. Using a klux or photone type app would help you pick where to hang it mid-canopy on perimeter - maybe slight angle downward. Depending on setup, the perimeter lights could be a bit stronger but still safe from 6-8". Any intra canopy stuff would fit the description above of very close placement to leaves, so very low intensity as to not burn shit. low wattage but could put at various depths based on shielding? May not need this without many plants or a very large plant. either light is shielded or it isn't ... if it is it would benefit to add light 'there'. wouldn't want more than 35-40 dli on leaf surface.... knowing how much you can push relative to typical temps, rh, co2 levels would set the bar more precisely. even if oyu just know by klux that X is maximum... you'd know if you apply too much light in any particular area. imho, too much hassle, lots of extra electricity that may or may not be justified by additional yield... if it sounds fun, sure, but good chance it's a boondoggle or flip a coin on cost effectiveness. Seems like a lot of wasted light not hitting the plant in an optimal way. The mid level perimeter lighting is probably more effective than intra canopy.. but just a guess.
