m0useanswered grow question 1h ago this has been in the retail market for years. the coating can contain fertilizers and other things. It is a gimmick and used to sell you less seeds for more money. It can help with super small seeds if you are blind. but just use glasses and caution.
One brand in the retail market that does this in is my area is Mckensie seeds and they call it Sow Easy. Its coated in a clay like mix thats brightly coloured and has fertz in it and sometimes other things. Its not needed, their main selling feature for this is they are easy to see and handle as the seeds are bigger and colourful. so I think its aimed for a ageing population.
Maybe it has merit with bulk seeds for larger agriculture aspects if it helps germination but the generalized consumer does not need it. And most seeds are coated with other shit that is not disclosed like fungicides or oils to improve the appearance of them.
