if water dries up on the clay balls, solutes will be deposited. Don't pour through it, but some buildup is inevitable if there is an ebb and flow of moisture. Roots shouldn't be anywhere near the surface, so it shouldn't be a problem.
murkiness depends on the product.. as long as you didn't mix something out of order, it should be fine.
Also, microbes have a significantly reduced role when your nutrients are all plant-available upon going into solution. I doubt you'd notice a difference using tarantual or not. I'd wager the murkiness is simply this product as it normally is? is it murky? A swill of microbes wouldn't be surprising, if so.
