Why do I get a headache?

Hi grower, I dried my buds for 12 days at 19–20°C and 50–60% RH. They’ve been curing for 2 days in a jar with a 62% Boveda, burping 5 min/day. I tried a small nug today: I did feel high, but with a neutral/vegetal taste and a headache that’s still here. How can fresh weed cause t

Nitrogen in nitrate form does not oxidize. Meaning if the plant does not dump it prior to harvest then 100% stays no matter what you do, what environmental factors you use, how long you cure, on a atomic level nitrogen in its nitrate form does not oxidize(Evaporate). Inhaling certain nitrogen compounds in nitrate form, can cause nausea and headaches, along with irritation of the respiratory function. Almost all synthetic nitrogen fertilizer (nitrate) is derived from fossil fuels, which are extracted by "big oil" companies and others. Take from that what you will. Good luck.

You need to cure longer! You want to cure for at least 2 weeks, I prefer 2 months, but if your stash is finished you want at least 2 weeks.

I cure for 8-9 weeks sometimes longer. 2days do absolutely nothing.

GolliGrowshat deine Grow-Frage beantwortet 1h ago Fresh weed can definitely cause a headache. At only 2 days of curing, the chlorophyll, moisture and residual by-products haven’t broken down yet. That neutral/ā€˜green’ taste means it’s still too fresh. Even though you dried 12 days, the terpenes and cannabinoids stabilize during curing, not drying. Give it at least 2–4 weeks in the jar (longer is even better). Keep RH around 58–62%, open the jar daily for the first week, then less often. The headache usually disappears once the weed is properly cured and the chlorophyll breaks down. Anyways....nice frosty bud. =)

hey šŸ‘‹ The curing process is far from complete; it still needs AT LEAST two more weeks before there’s real breakdown of the chlorophyll, sugars, and other substances. As a result, the taste is still vegetal and the smoke a bit harsh. And if you didn’t do a flush at the end of the cycle followed by a week without watering, the headache makes even more sense šŸ˜‰
