Auto SLH Early Flowering?“

Hello, I have a Auto Super Lemon Haze plant. It’s been 31 days since I saw the first cotyledons, and I think I’ve seen the first signs of early flowering. But someone told me this plant is photoperiod and that I should switch to 12/12 light. What should I do?

If you get to 8-10 weeks and it isn't flowering, then you can be more certain that it is a photeperiod. you do have a preflower, so if it is an auto, things should progress in a more visible way over the next week or two. By the time you see a developed preflower, it's been in flower for a bit -- if trying to compare to a photoperiod as far as timing and common perceptions of how long flower length is etc.. it takes a little estimation since we can't see it happen at the cellular level and we don't control it through light schedule with autos. So, if you don't see pistils developing at the terminal buds within 2 weeks, i'd wager it's a photoperiod. It's worth the wait unless you have a powerful enough light to handle providing same DLI over 12 hours instead of 18h. For example, if timing is an issue and need it in flower asap, hedge your bets, amp up light 150% and change to 12/12. Context matters.

The same dli over 12h will result in the same yield as the same DLI over 18h. Non issue as long as you provide the same DLI. it's a currency, and the same amount of energy absorbed will result in the same amount of growth potential.

18/6 for autos. A photoperiod plant from seed will in no way have pre-flower pistils appearing after only 31 days. However, it is perfectly normal and somewhat expected for an autoflower plant to have pre-flower pistils at day 31. Do not go to 12/12.

You do not need to switch a Auto to 12/12 but you can if you want to use less power. The DLI is the value which should fit to the stadium of the auto. But running further with more hours is what the plant is now used to. So if you switch light-cyle it will be "confused" for a few days. if you dont know if it is a photo - than just wait to see whre you stand in 3-4 weeks - a auto would be in flower then - with 18/6. A Photo would have grown just bigger and more stable. (remember that a "normal" plant in nature easyly grows 10+x weeks and has 10+x weeks for flowering. so waht we do with Autos and Indoor is cutting the time where possible )

Thats normal" It's an Auto. So thats the signs that the Pre flowering stadium is running and the stretch will begin next days. Also you can say, your auto is now flowering. So stay tuned on 18/6 because the didn't care about the light switch and love the amount of time at 100%. So dont be scared it's all fine! Have an eye on how fast they grow and have a look on the nutriens. 👌
