Bti - i can't spell it but it's unique enough this will get you there -- Bacillus thurgenisis (israelis subspecies). some of those letters are correct, bwahaha. Summit Mosquito Bits and Dunks are the product in usa/canada at the least.. not sure how wide that brand goes. This will pre-emptively take care of any larva that come with the medium. This stuff often picks up pests in transportation and 2x more often if the vendor stores it outside. It's a good practice to use this bacteria, which has been safely used on our food crops for a century or more, i believe, at least until you are confident there are no gnats - or just about any pest that leaves larva in a solid substrate. If you keep a clean indoor garden and don't track shit in from outside, you really shouldn't need much. The only time i've seen thrips is from clone swaps with people using 'organic' soils, bwahah. Bewarre of plants from other people's gardens. isolate for 2 weeks and save yourself a pest problem. I don't regularly spray my plants with anything... i do use these early on.. and for a few weeks after anytime i pot up with new medium added. Nothing flying around after a few weeks, i stop using Bti too.

Just do regular sprays until flowering. At minimum once a month for preventative care. You can also use diatomaceous earth on the soil to prevent bugs in the soil and it also adds silica to the plant

To prevent pests in an indoor grow, the most effective approach is prevention: start by thoroughly cleaning the tent, pots, and tools, always use fresh, good-quality substrate, install fine mesh on air intakes, and avoid bringing in outside plants without a short quarantine; keep good airflow, avoid overwatering, and maintain healthy plants, as stress attracts insects. As a gentle preventive and control aid, potassium soap is a natural and safe option: it is not a poison but works by contact, breaking down the protective layer of soft-bodied insects such as aphids, whiteflies, thrips, and mealybugs, causing dehydration; it is applied diluted in water and sprayed on the leaves (especially the underside), ideally with lights off or no direct sun, and can be used periodically as long as infestations are mild.

I don't know how to repel them but to limit the risk of bugs, don't use anything from outside. Monitor with yellow sticky cards in the tent and react based on any activity. You can spread diatomaceous earth on the floor to help get rid of crawling bugs.
