I am a newbie to growing and have chosen to do with autoflowers outdoor grow. I am wanting to do the LST and sea of green. Do I need to tip my plants to do the scrog or is it just the LST?

With autoflowers, you generally do not need to top to do LST or a SOG/Scrog-style grow. Autos have a limited veg time, and topping can slow them down if they don’t recover fast enough. LST alone is usually the best choice: gently bend and tie the main stem and side branches outward to keep the canopy flat and even. This gives you many tops without the stress of topping. Topping autos is optional and only recommended if the plant is very healthy and vigorous early on—but for a beginner, LST only is safer and more consistent. But my advice to you is to do it as JUNGLE_B4RNS said right before me.

All these technics require a minimum of experience with auto flowering strains. I would suggest you to let it grow with no manipulation to reach your first main goal which is being successful.

I would recommend topping, but no sea of green or screen of green for outdoors. Topping can help with height and distributing the energy of the plant to many mainbuds instead of one. But the light intensity and penetration through the foliage is on a whole other level than indoors, so you dont need a SOG or SCROG. Just give them some space and watch them grow, growing outdoors is super fun :)

I guess you mean Screen of Green? A Sea of Green would be a lot of small and untopped plants on an area. With a Screen of Green, you usually top a few plants so that the side shoots grow stronger, then later weave them into a net to obtain equal height of the flowers and support through the net.

Tipping generally promotes a better result... ask any stripper. LOL, outside there is no need to top. there is no need for a level canopy. If it helps expose a greater amount of leaf surface area to light, it's probably useful, but can also probably be accomplished without cutting bits off the plant. unlike indoor lighting, there are no weak angles, corners or edges of a tent where light is 50% of what it is directly under the light. The plant is swimming in photons from all directions. save yourself the effort. Just let it grow. Shape the plant a bit to spread it out as it grows. A trellis is good for support, but again.. an even canopy is wasted effort outside. Spreading it out is useful, though. Plus, with autoflowers, it won't grow that large anyway.

hi...... Du musst sie nicht toppen........ hast dann allerdings mehr Triebe für Netz, wenn du sie toppst....... Teste es einfach mal aus..... Viel Glück

You can do either or. When you top, it gives you more branches to spread through the scrog but also when you scrog it creates more branches as well I'd say try it out and then if it works, do it again. It's all a learning experience
